STAYING FINANCIALLY CONSCIOUS || RECURRING EXPENSES AND THEIR REMEDY

Every one of us has a recurring expense. Most of them are like essential non-essentials - if that makes some sense. The most common recurring of expense has to be food, housing and clothing(with the last one being a little flexible but essential still). But mainly, we cannot do without those as they are basic life necessities.

On the other hand, there's something about those expenses we can do without but still go ahead to get; they somehow are linked to other important areas of our lives. They are hinged on things that affect our daily living.

Some of these expenses are not gotten based on importance but maybe mere desire...still, they are subject to change and reduction on their reliance.

I try to maintain a healthy level of financial consciousness. It's only wise that I do so for I don't earn so much to live recklessly. But sometimes, I cannot but indulge myself. Amongst them are:

Data

This has to be the most expensive of recurring expenses. Maybe I exaggerate but you could say that the amount I spend on data purchase is enough to get me assets. Lol. These subs are so expensive but fail to live up to the duration they are got for. I don't think anyone cannot do without them but they offer preminum services. If I had no data sub, for example, Hive and every one of my online affairs would only lay in my thought. We definitely understand the place of technology in today's world.

Junk

There was a time when it was unlikely that I went a day without soda and junk. The consumption of those, I have reduced. I realized that when I get, say a pack of juice and snacks, after eating, they don't fill me and I would have to get some more especially when I am at work. By the end of the day, I would have spent more money than would have gotten me a full, healthy meal. Same applies to eating out.
So this year, I have proposed to buy food items in bulk, cook healthy meals and pack some up as lunch for work. Very cost effective.

Entertainment subscription

The most time I spent on the internet happens with my phone. But, I am subscribed to mobile apps like Netflix, Spotify, plus my cable sub. Inspite of the amount paid, I only get to use the apps a few times in the month. Because tell me, how many of these movie cables can I even watch at once? Now I pay for only the one I get the most of my money's worth from. I get my music from just one source too. Besides, even access to these app platforms consume data.

More than these are just prompts to write about, i consider them helpful. That's because, I may not have gone doing some personal search on things that aren't so necessary but which drill holes in my pocket even if I knew them and they were glaring. Thanks to this topic, I had to pay attention to that area. Prudency has to be upheld this year. We cannot be spending more than we earn nor need. No way.

Network providers are now using us to fill their pockets, imagine doing a monthly thrice in one month.

One time, I drank soda about twice a day for weeks. I took a toll on me regarding my finances and health. I even weaned myself off, but I still do things like eating out, and that doesn't save money at all.

Just like you, I have subscriptions on many entertainment platforms, even Discord Nitro. I can do without them surely, but they serve me well, especially for matters like Hive.

Thank you for participating.

The subscriptions are very necessary. But those junks, they serve some purpose in that moment after which they feel like a waste of money. Not to talk about the health demerits.
