The good and bad of Hive; Review from a 3-months old user.

It’s been about three months since my brother @moremoney28 introduced me to Hive, and honestly, it’s been an amazing journey so far. For someone that had abandoned her writing because of the many ways her skills had been used without proper reward, Hive has helped me in many ways to get back on track in my writing.

Barely three months on here, and I’ve already told my close friends about the amazing platform with many benefits than some of those they currently use. Even though I’m still gradually building my reputation on the platform, here are some of the things I’ve told my friends about Hive that make them look forward to joining the platform.

Firstly, Hive is a community-based platform where you can join many welcoming communities. No matter your skills or area of expertise, there’s a community on Hive that will welcome you with open arms, provided you do not flaw their rules and regulations. A particular community has helped me boost my creative storytelling that I’ve abandoned over the years. I remember writing a low-quality content, and I was corrected with much love. Some users on other platforms outside Hive would’ve dragged me for making such a mistake. Thanks to Hive for creating a platform where people could relate with one another with much love.

Secondly, Hive does NOT encourage laziness. It’s either you are creative, or you are ready to get creative, else, you might get frustrated in no time. So, I told my friends that Hive provides them the opportunity to ‘learn on the job’, and what other method of learning beats learning and earning while at it? Hive has provided a platform where even as an upcoming writer, you can strive and survive by learning from the writings of others. Before I could engage in many communities, one major thing I do first is read the community guidelines, then study the community members’ writing styles to see if my style suits their community or there’s something new I need to learn, which most of the times, there’s always a new thing to learn.

One major thing I love about Hive is that you can NEVER cheat because there are watchers observing your activities on Hive. You can’t earn rewards on the content generated by AI on the platform and escape the punishment of not using your creativity instead, Nah. I love that especially.

I remember writing on Facebook sometime ago, and someone with more followers lifted my content word-for-word, posted it on his page and claimed it as his, I was livid, but I couldn’t do much and there was no one to report to, but Hive will never let you do that. You can’t claim other people’s works as yours, neither can your work be claimed as theirs, so the fear of other people getting rewarded for your hard work does not even exist. Hive has adequately encouraged self-owned works, and that is a huge opportunity for improvement on the people that are willing to put in the work.

The fact that I can blog, post videos, and get rewarded for posting quality content is something I will never take for granted on Hive. Imagine having a platform where you have a community that emotionally supports, and encourages you for abiding by the rules, and rewards you for choosing quality every time you use their platform, won’t you be forever grateful?

The first month I joined, I had a little difficulty understanding and navigating the platform, so it took a while for me to start posting consistently on here. Apart from the little bit of complexity at the beginning, Hive is one platform that I can’t do without checking every day. Can we call that an addiction? No, I don’t think so. It is because Hive is regulated so much that only quality things are on there.

This is my entry to the June #inleo prompt for today. Check it out here and also participate.

@mikechrist @medemausi. I’m sure you have a thing to write about Hive too. Also, @moremoney28, come and tell the world all that you told us when you onboarded us to Hive.
