Introduction

We are currently in the process of looking to onboarding artists, musicians and film and theatre professionals onto Hive. This is a passion of ours and believe not only politically this is the way forward but also could be an opportunity to own your content and to monetise it a little.

So we started to create a document to share with some of our contacts and would greatly welcome any help! We know there are posts out there already and any suggestions always welcome.

Artist Onboarding to Hive

Why use Hive?

If you are a content creator and are already using social media then this is the perfect way to monetize your content. You do not have to pay anything to use it and it has a range of d’apps that you can use for different things as well as a supportive community. Hive is on web 3.0 and is growing steadily. It is decentralised social media, which means it is not controlled by Elon or Meta! You post your content and you own your content. This is the land of the free. It also means you monetize your content instead of them selling advertising on your attention. So get ahead of the curve and start using it before anybody else does and stop giving those big companies your content and attention!

How to get started!

Download Brave browser, it is more secure and you can keep all your Hive accounts in one place! This is just another IE like chrome or firefox.

https://brave.com/?ref=fwh089

This is an internet browser and looks like this:

You need to add the Hive Keychain extension, do this by going to the top right of your browser and clicking on the little jigsaw piece! This is your wallet and always needs to be logged in when you are on Hive. You will need to install this to your browser. You can download it direct here: https://hive-keychain.com/

Pin this extension to your Brave Browser

When you first click on the extension it will ask you to set your own password. So set up a secure password that you can remember!

Then it will ask you for your keys/pwd. This is where you can add the long password that we have sent you!

Click on use keys/pwd, type in your username that we sent you and copy and paste the key password we sent you

Once you are in you need to log in to go to any of the Hive sites and D’apps. So if you ever go on Hive you must log in to the Hive Keychain extension before you do anything else!

Your first post

Generally on Hive when you do your first post you do an introduction to who you are. One of the best sites to do this is Peak D - https://peakd.com/ or https://ecency.com/ which you can copy into the brave browser when you get there you do not need to join as you have a Hive account, just log in! Type your user name and the Hive Keychain will ask you to confirm it, tick the do not prompt again box and click confirm.

On Peak D

Click on your name on the top right and go to your blog. From here you can set up your profile with a picture and a short bio. You can do this on the top right under account actions:

Now it is time to write your first blog introducing who you are! This gives the community a chance to say hello and get to know you. This is quite important as it sets the scene for your journey on Hive. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to materialise so just carry on!

To create your first blog click on the little pencil at the top right and create a post. Now it is time to create your first blog.

You can use some of the following headings to help guide your introduction. We are happy to help with this:

Introduction
About me
Things I will be blogging and sharing
Why I got on Hive

In the Tag/topic section you can use these tags/topics:

Introductionpost newuser pob cent pimp

Blogging

Once you have done your introduction post you can then start exploring the many things Hive has to offer. There are lots of ways to blog on Hive, you can use Liketu and use it like instagram or post your videos on 3speak. You can also use Cine TV to post longer blogs about film and tv and theatre, these should be over 300 words and have some images or videos with them.

Links:

Film, TV and theatre - https://www.cinetv.blog/

Short form blogging and photos - https://www.liketu.com/

Uploading videos and blog - https://3speak.tv/

General blogging - https://ecency.com/

Liketu

  • This is all about sharing photos!
  • Click login using Hive key chain and then confirm it.
  • Click on the photo to start blogging on here!
  • Try to add photos and some text!
  • This is a bit like Instagram!

3speak

  • Open this in Brave
  • Click login/sign up
  • You need to sign up with your own email address for this and set up a password.
  • You will then have to confirm the link.

Blogging and Using Tags

Tags do not work the same as hashtags like on Instagram or twitter. They relate to the communities/groups that your blog is posted in so they are determined by the content you are using. However there are also some generic tags that you can use to get your blog more exposure.

Music tags: music / soundzone / hive-engine/ ccc / pob / cent / pimp

Film, theatre and TV: cinetv / movies / films / pob / hive-engine / cent /

Art tags: art / onchainart / ccc / pob / hive-engine / cent / pimp / vyb

If you would like to learn more about communities related to the tags, let us know so we can help you to find the best connections for you personally. Never use a tag that is not appropriate to the content you are sharing.

Blogging schedule

What is a great thing to do is have a blogging schedule of blogs you could do on different days. If you know you are always going to be doing certain posts on certain topics, setting up a template for these will save a lot of time!

We can help you with this and talk you through it!

Warning!

Please only use content you are allowed to use and if you use any images or words that are not your own please credit the source. Hive will not accept plagiarism! If you don’t have your own images to use, these are good websites to find free to use images:

Pixabay
Pexels

If you’re also going to create graphics, you could check out Canva, you will find a big library of free to use images incorporated in the website.

Just remember that you still always need to refer to the source where you got the image from.

Communities

There are lots of communities to get involved with on Hive.

Getting support

We are happy to support your development on Hive and help with any technical questions that we can. You can contact us on hive, on discord or by email!

That's the start of something good. We definitely need good tutorials for newbies. If you created their accounts then they will need to learn to change their keys. That's not so hard really.

We need to build good, supportive communities to coach people. The last thing we need is for them to get put off or to make the wrong impression.

it is very tricky, we have onboarding quite a few people and it has become a bit clearer over time. Keeping them here is the next stage but making it as simple as possible is our goal!

You're absolutely right that the platform is what people want to use, there's no one stopping them, and the way we're seeing it on Twitter is now very strict. is going on and people's accounts are being blocked so this is not a good thing at all. Every human being should be free to speak his mind and say whatever he wants to say in peace.

ah that is a good idea! I think if we were onboarding them they would not have to worry about that as we would delegate to them
