Introduction

@ablaze has been doing 3 tune Tuesday for quite a while and we love the idea of it and some of the posts @stickupmusic has been doing it but I though I would join in too. it is a great way to listen to new music which is always something we want to do!

Our picks

This week we are all about Alabama 3. Now this was a band started in Brixton in South london and have been a band that is close to me for a long time. Country, acid house techno music is not something you listen to much. However, they are more than that, they are comic political satirists as well. I have seen them a few times and they have such energy and charisma live.

Ok when this song came out I had been living in India studying music and had spent Christmas in Goa so this song was relevant to my life at the time. I have to say it was pretty accurate in its description. I mean this song is one of a kind with rapping, a light slow electronic beat, harmonica, squelchy synths, slide guitars and a little smile. What more could you do to make a song like this? I mean you could lay down on a beach wearing spandex psychedelic trousers smoking dope getting consciousness expansion.... I want consciousness expansion....

This is the song that really got them knows, having the title song of one of the biggest and best TV shows around at the time was a real feather in their cap. Such a big song and so cool. It works with the show perfectly

Song 3

Like I said they are more than just brilliant musicians they are also deeply political. This song says it all. Again mixing samples, vocals, great lryics and a techno backing track. Some songs are beautiful, some boring but some songs, like this one, have meaning. Like they say this "place would be a paradise tomorrow if every supervisor had a sub machine gun"
