Lights in London! Not the usual lights you see, some special ones at Kew Gardens

Introduction

So 10 years ago I do not remember doing these light trails where in the winter months they set up all these lights in big parks and you wander round occasionally buying expensive food and drink. These days it seems like a thing and they pop up all over the place. This year we went to Kew Gardens in London. Some of the SUBs live near there so it is always nice to go and spend time together and take the dogs out err I mean kids out for some fresh air and exercise.

The lights

So what you get on these things is different areas designed by different people with music. Now it was funny to see one of the structures built was called the Hive! This was a huge structure of lights designed like a beehive that changed colour.

Now taking pictures in the dark is always tricky these were like little houses and there were loads of them. Almost with a Matisse style of design they were quite cool.

Not sure how christmasy this venus fly trap is. However the kids informed me it was part of like shops Christmas advert or something!

There was quite a few Christmas things around and to be honest a real mix of christmas music as you wandered about. Some of it was old classics which was nice, there was also some terrible modernish pop songs that you may or might not know! We did not really care we just danced around to whatever was on!

This was a nice walk through the woods with all these lights hanging off trees.

There were lots of trees with lights, we quite liked this one, is it a Christmas tree?

Good old Christmas Robins.

This is one of the main buildings at Kew gardens with a field of candles and then along the side oil burners. It was nice there with some peaceful music on.

Some of the lights were projected onto the floor which again made it a different atmosphere.

Various Christmas images in lights of course as you walked along

This light tunnel moved about and was a big like you were in a episode of Dr Who travelling through time!

Conclusion

I don't know if you have been to one of these types of things before. I have to say we have been to quite a few now and always have a nice time when we go. the kids always enjoy it so if you have one near you then I would definitely consider getting tickets and going. I would recommend taking a hot thermos with some kind of booze related beverage in it!

One of the advantages of events is that people get a chance to meet each other and even now all these decorations are still standing, so it is good that people who have not seen them can still see them.
