[EN/PT-BR] Freedom of information!

I am a staunch defender of freedom of expression, as well as several other freedoms that I believe are always the key point of an entire society. Although we always have a rule to follow, a constitution and laws to obey and follow to the letter, our freedom to come and go, expression and information must also be respected, especially by those in power, who we know love to apply censorship or form of control in everything.

But, speaking specifically about freedom of information, I believe that the population of each country should have the right to know everything about what is happening in their territory, even if this information may be complex or complicated, I think it is a right to everyone knows what is happening, especially when it involves your tax money or your government's public spending.

Here in Brazil, for example, government officials keep accusing each other about the application of a secrecy law in certain matters, going so far as to impose 100-year secrecy on information and this is quite funny. What is there that no one can know? Can even the press, let alone citizens, see it? Absurd spending, money misused? Buying weapons or something? There are many questions that remain in the dark, hidden and I am completely against this, any and all government information should be shared.

It's a complicated subject at times, would sharing war secrets be a good idea? Maybe not, but I believe that the information should be put on the table, after all, the people elect the rulers and they, in theory, work for the people, even if we know about corruption and that they think they are gods who can hide the facts and distort the truths, in order to create the information that they want us to see, I say this because of Fake News, which has become so popular in recent years and has thus become a combat weapon between the most diverse segments of politics.

We must always fight to have the right to access information and, just like our freedom of expression, we must be free to send and receive news, in a way that is not manipulated, evaded from its truth, despite all the difficulty, That's why I fight and I think there should be more effort on the part of the population to look for this kind of thing. Blockchain technology, for example, should be the official platform for politicians and governments, where information could be published and, therefore, transparent and impossible to be deleted, it would be a great start to having true transparency in communication for the population.

Even so, maybe Fake News would still be published, I don't think the blockchain would be able to validate this exactly, but just because the news is never lost, no matter how many changes there are, you can still see the history and everything and that would be perfect to put an end to this hiding of information and changing the truth. We are the people and the people must know what is happening in their country and in the world, that is what I believe and I hope that one day we can always receive the true news and information about everything that happens in our country.

Sou um defensor assíduo da liberdade de expressão, assim como de várias outras liberdades que acredito ser sempre o ponto-chave de toda uma sociedade. Apesar de termos sempre uma regra para seguir, uma constituição e leis para obedecer e seguir à risca, nossa liberdade de ir e vir, de expressão e de informação deve ser respeitada também, principalmente pelos governantes, que sabemos que amam aplicar uma censura ou uma forma de controle em tudo.

Mas, falando especificamente na liberdade a informação, acredito que a população de cada país deve ter o direito de saber tudo sobre o que está acontecendo em seu território de moradia, mesmo que essas informações possam ser complexas ou complicadas, acho que é um direito de todos saberem o que está acontecendo, principalmente quando envolve o dinheiro de seu imposto ou os gastos públicos do seu governo.

Aqui no Brasil, por exemplo, os governantes vivem acusando reciprocamente sobre a aplicação de uma lei de sigilo em determinados assuntos, chegando a colocar sigilo de 100 anos nas informações e isso é bastante engraçado. O que têm ali que ninguém pode saber? Inclusive a imprensa e muito menos os cidadãos podem ver? Gastos absurdos, dinheiro indevidamente utilizado? Compra de armas ou algo assim? São muitas perguntas que ficam no escuro, no oculto e eu sou completamente contra isso, toda e qualquer informação governamental deveria ser compartilhada.

É um assunto complicado em certos momentos, compartilhar segredos de guerra seria uma boa ideia? Talvez não, mas acredito que as informações devem sim ser colocadas na mesa, afinal o povo elege os governantes e eles, na teoria, trabalham para o povo, mesmo que saibamos da corrupção e que eles se acham deuses que podem ocultar os fatos e distorcer as verdades, para assim criar a informação que eles querem que nos vejamos, digo isso pelas Fake News, que tanto se popularizaram nos últimos anos e assim se tornou uma arma de combate entre os mais diversos seguimentos de política.

Devemos sempre lutar para ter o direito ao acesso à informação e, assim como a nossa liberdade de expressão, devemos ser livres para enviar e receber as notícias, de uma forma que não sejam manipuladas, evadidas de sua verdade, apesar de toda a dificuldade, é por isso que luto e acho que deveria haver mais empenho da população em buscar esse tipo de coisa. A tecnologia blockchain, por exemplo, deveria ser a plataforma oficial de políticos e governos, onde pudessem ser publicadas as informações e, assim sendo transparentes e impossíveis de serem deletadas, seria um ótimo começo para ter uma verdadeira transparência na comunicação para a população.

Mesmo assim, talvez ainda fossem publicadas Fake News, acho que a blockchain não teria como validar isso exatamente, mas só pelo fato da notícia nunca se perder, por mais que existam alterações, você ainda pode ver o histórico e tudo mais e isso seria perfeito para acabar com essa ocultação de informação e mudança da verdade. Somos o povo e o povo deve saber o que acontece em seu país e no mundo, é nisso que acredito e espero que um dia possamos, sim, sempre receber a verdadeira notícia e a informação sobre tudo o que ocorre em nosso país.
