"Don't die a Copy" || Book review

INTRODUCTION

I used to think something was wrong with me as a child. I was that girl people called "too serious." While other kids played games and chased after adventures, I found solace in books and introspection. My choice of solitude over socializing often led to puzzled looks and raised eyebrows from my peers.

As I entered my teenage years, I realized that I wasn't considered a "cool" teen, and this lack of conformity left me with a scarcity of friends. I found myself in a lonely place, longing for connection, and desperately wanting to fit in. For a very long time, I became a pushover, allowing people to approach me for what they could get out of me, rather than for genuine friendship.

MY STORY

This painful realization gnawed at me deeply. I grappled with feelings of inadequacy and a desperate desire to be accepted. I felt like an outsider looking in on a world where everyone else seemed to effortlessly belong.

In my quest for validation and to prove that I, too, could be a "cool" teen, I started emulating the behavior and interests of others.

I became a copy of what I thought a popular teenager should be. I altered my interests, adopted mannerisms, and hid my true self behind a facade of what I believed would make me fit in. But this endeavor didn't bring me happiness; instead, it only pushed me further away from my authentic self as

THE TURNING POINT

It was during one seemingly ordinary day that my life took a significant turn. My father, a devoted bibliophile, shared his room with a vast collection of books. He asked me to retrieve something for him from his room, and as I searched through the stacks of books, I stumbled upon a title that would change my life forever: "You Were Born an Original, Don't Die a Copy."

As I held the book in my hands, It was as if someone had looked into my soul and spoken directly to my heart.

MY TRANSFORMATION

From the very first words of the book, I was captivated. The author, John Mason, shared powerful insights about embracing one's uniqueness and living authentically. As I read, it felt as though he understood the struggles I had been facing—struggles that I had never dared to voice aloud.

He encouraged readers to shed the masks of conformity, to recognize their inherent worth, and to embrace their individuality. I realized that I didn't need to be a copy of someone else to be accepted; I needed to be true to myself.

THE LIBERATION

With each page I turned, I felt a profound sense of liberation. The book gave me permission to be me, to honor my passions, and to express my thoughts and feelings authentically. It taught me that it was okay to be "too serious" and that my uniqueness was not a flaw but a gift.

I began to apply the principles from the book to my life. I started pursuing my true passions, regardless of whether they were considered "cool" by societal standards. I let go of the need for external validation and focused on self-acceptance instead.

CONCLUSION: A NEW BEGINNING

In the end, "You Were Born an Original, Don't Die a Copy" not only set me free but also saved me from a life of self-imposed conformity and misery. It reminded me that I was born an original, and it was my duty to live as one. This transformation wasn't instantaneous.

Today, I can proudly say that I have found my authentic self. I no longer strive to be a copy, seeking validation from others. Instead, I embrace my uniqueness and live a life that aligns with my true identity.

I credit this transformation to the profound wisdom found within the pages of that beautiful book I discovered in my father's room—a book that spoke to me when I needed it most and set me on a path to self-discovery and authenticity.

You should get a copy for yourself.

It's great how a book can influence us so much to the point of helping us to be happy or unhappy, depending on the book.

Great book, I think it's worth investigating and taking a look at it.
