Kaleidoscopes 101: New Space

As I have mentioned, even several times, in my previous posts, I am fascinated by the harmonious, abstract, and colorful geometric structures represented by kaleidoscopes, and even more so by mandalas. At least once a month I feel the need to create something like this.

It took me a few years to get to the 100th edition :) 😁

Usually, I generate kaleidoscopes from my own photos, but this time I decided to take a different approach.

From my last VJing video Recycled Mirrors, created from two several hours of highway driving footage condensed into two minutes and processed with Chung Dha kaleidoscopic presets, I extracted some frames and processed them again (or recycled them again, if you like), or, in blockchain jargon, I would say I created 3rd layer visualizations :).

Essentially, the same pixels move around in the image, creating a different image with a new placement and a new color scheme in limited image space. For the third time.
First as a video frame, then as a generated kaleidoscope, and now as a processed kaleidoscope.
But it's still only processing or a record of reality, of a specific moment in time, in a specific location, to be more precise.

To create these visuals, I first used Premiere to export the frames from the video and then Photoshop and Paint.net to do the final processing.
So, there's no AI, just a bunch of software and math ...
