Beer Tasting: Wieninger Lausbua & Pinzga' Phönix

Hello, beer tasters! 🍻 😎 🍻

How's going? Hive goes to the Moon and that's reason to rejoice, and enjoy #beersaturday, right?
I've got two beers to taste here, and we'll see what it's all about.

laus1.jpg

I have already published three beer posts this week and had a beer in each of them, but the purpose was different.
As the end of the year is approaching and my beer posts have become completely unreadable because I've posted links to all my #beersaturday posts next to each one, I've decided to organize this unreadable mass of links a bit, as it's possible to do in the Hive interface I use the most (@ecency).

I decided to do this after years of posting here. Almost since the beginning of this weekly contest, which I think is the oldest, @detlev started it before the communities.
I've covered three years up to now, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Because actually everything I wrote will remain as long as this blockchain will exist, but let's say it's a little bit better arranged now.
The links are below, now let's have a beer!

🍻 😎 🍻

Wieninger Lausbua

laus2.jpg

Brewed by Privatbrauerei MC Wieninger, Teisendorf, Bavaria, Germany. Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 3.8% ABV. It's Hoppy Pale Lager beer and it's fermented with lager rather than ale yeast with amplified fruit aromas.
Ugh... what the master brewers say:

Fruity light summer beer with aroma hops Ariana, Cascade, and Blanc. Cold hopped with Cascade and Simcoe.

These are details for me because I don't brew beer at home, but the real insiders will already know.

laus3.jpg

It is opaque golden in color with a lot of foam which disappears quickly. It smells fruity immediately before sipping. In the first sip, I feel a pleasant bitterness going down my throat, the sweetness of the malt is not noticeable, and there is some fruit in the background that draws on citrus.
The bitterness lingers long after the sip. I don't feel any alcohol, just the bitterness of the hops.
Too bad it's not a bigger bottle here :(

laus4.jpg

Very fresh and bitter. It would probably be great in the summer to cool off, but it's also good now in the autumn.
I'm surprised that a beer with a low alcohol content works so well. I would have to fill the fridge with it in summer.

A beer meme for a break.

Pinzga' Phönix

laus6.jpg

Brewed by Microbrewery Pinzgau Bräu, Bruck, Austria. Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.4% ABV. It's smoked beer, amber-brown color with a beechwood smoke character.
What the brewers say:

Slightly reddish color, reminiscent of the embers in the house. In the nose a subtle smoky aroma, on the palate the full breadth of a balanced "other" beer.

Hm ...

laus7.jpg

The beer is brown in color, the head is average and it goes off quickly. I can smell the smoke immediately, and in my nose and in the first sip, ugh, it's like trying to shove a railway beam made of smoked oak down my throat.

There is no aroma, it is a little sweet and very smoky. The smokiness is too dominant, I had a hard time drinking it. In the after sip, all that smokiness disappears quickly, thank goodness.

laus8.jpg

I find it too heavy. I barely drank it all the way through. I absolutely do not like this kind of beer. Suppose there are fans, but I don't like the distinct smoky taste. If anyone is curious, they should give it a try, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The only good thing about this beer is that in the aftertaste the smoke and everything else disappears quickly. No need to wash your teeth. Well, maybe with a sip of whiskey :)

I mean, I'm sure the master brewers didn't mean anything bad, but overdoing it with that smoke is not like anything else either. I wouldn't drink this even if it was the only beer to choose from.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this?
The blues, that's all I have left after this terrible beer :)
Great Croatian blues band from my yesterday's #newtunes post, pure classics.

I mean, I'm sure the master brewers didn't mean anything bad, but overdoing it with that smoke is not like anything else either.

The főnix (phoenix) is rising from its ashes. It does not sound that bad. Actually they probably made it with style.

I wouldn't drink this even if it was the only beer to choose from.

Sounds like the world's worst beer. I have not tasted it, but I like its name. Pinzga' Phönix. We (Hungarians) write it as "főnix". I like the greek mythology very much. I love reading related fantasy books, either in English or in Hungarian.

I give you some !PIZZA.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings from Hungary.

Thanks for stopping by, @xplosive. Yeah, I know, Fenix is rising from ashes. The name of the beer is good, the website looks nice, the label on the bottle is clever, but I didn't like the content. not to my taste. I have tried a few smoked beers, for example, this one Bewog Hagger I thought was great but the smoke taste was very discreet, here it overpowers everything.
Have a nice weekend and !BEER

Wow the Pinzga looks interesting! Smoked beer seems like a bit of a stretch to be good but progressive for sure!

Always good to have the balance and hear about those bad beers too. It makes the top beers even better when they come along..
