A Sublime Sunday at the Amtrak

For this week's #sublimesunday, as inspired by @c0ff33a, I stopped by the local Amtrak station to see what was going on in the rail yard. The rail line is primarily used by the Canadian Pacific, but it also serves as part of the line for Amtrak's Empire Builder route.

The La Crosse station is one of a few stops between the Twin Cities and Chicago. I've only taken it from here to Chicago; someday, I can't wait to have the time to take it out to the West Coast.

The station itself was built in the 1920's. It was originally a depot along the Milwaukee Road rail line. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get inside the depot today, but it definitely looks like something from a 1920's film.

As I was walking around the depot, a couple of trains passed by. I first was able to get this yellow engine:

Then a three-set Canadian Pacific engine cluster flew down the tracks.

I could take photos of trains all day long...maybe I should someday. I know there is a group of enthusiasts that show up along the local tracks when a rare engine comes barreling through town. I don't see it as often I used to, but there still seems to be a group of photographers that are into that type of imagery.

With the sun just warm enough to keep the cold at bay, it was an easy enough #sublimesunday visit. Hopefully, next time through, I can inside and get some photos of the beautiful, original decor inside the building.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my Sunday. Hoping everyone else had a wonderful Sunday too!
