LAND NFT Claims vs. Claimed Plots

PROS vs. CONS:

Splinterlands PLOTS are a hot topic these days in the Splinterverse. If you are playing the Splinterlands game you likely want to own a piece of PRAETORIA. At a current cost of roughly $170 USD PLOTS can get costly. But wait a minute what if I told you there is a way to get some PRAETORIA Land (A Splinterlands Plot) for much cheaper than the $170 USD price tag one needs to pay when purchasing PLOT NFT's from secondary markets (such as LeoDex and Hive-Engine). As many Splinterlanders know, PLOT NFT's are now claimable on the official Splinterlands site. What that means is you can now claim and stake land. Doing so is as easy as transferring your Splinterlands NFT PLOT token within the official Splinterlands site (your Splinterlands wallet).

After doing so simply click the LAND icon at the top of the Splinterlands page. From there you will see a CLAIM DEED icon at the top of the page that displays the PRAETORIA MAP (Click It To Claim Your DEED). The con to doing this is you will no longer have the PLOT NFT that is tradable on markets such LeoDex and Hive-Engine. The pro to doing this is you will now start to receive some SPS airdrops daily in your Splinterlands SPS wallet section. Now for those of you who are looking to purchase land and are ok with owning a common PLOT (which is what most PLOT NFT DEED claims will be) instead of paying the $170 USD that is wanted on secondary markets you can instead purchase an already claimed PLOT (DEED) by purchasing directly from someone who already claimed their DEED (PLOT) but now wants to sell. Lets take a look at the prices.

The above screenshot (Taken From Splinterlands) shows the lowest cost per common PLOT in different section of the PRAETORIA MAP. To view each PLOT individually simply click on VIEW PLOTS. Doing so will bring you to a new page in which you will be able to purchase plots. The easy to use PRICE indicator will allow you to organize the PLOTS from least expensive to most expensive. For my example below I clicked on the View Plots for the TASHUNA listing. As you can see from the screenshot: Four PLOTS (DEEDS) are for sale. Ranging from $69.00 - $77.00 USD. That means the cheapest claimed plot for sale on the official Splinterlands site will cost you 40% of what purchasing an unclaimed NFT PLOT from secondary markets will. So if a common DEED claim is what you are after it is much more cost efficient to purchase a DEED directly from the Splinterlands site. If you want a chance at something other than a Common DEED claim you will have to pay the $170 price tag for a PLOT NFT and roll that dice when making your DEED CLAIM.

Lands is available for under $100 with buildings. It seems better value than buying it on hive-engine. But there you can get a rarity !

Land seems more like a passive component to the game which doesn't really interest me. If it was more affordable I'd definitely be interested but I simply don't see much entertainment value out of buying it atm. If whatever land produces turns out to be a critical component of the game forcing me to buy those components instead of more cards, I'll probably be done and ready to sell everything.

So building in a box and unstable totems? enlighten us rentmoney. Seems those add value to buying land with them attached. But how much? how/where do you buy those if you buy a deed? do you have to pay to survey land if you claim land with a deed? another cost

All land/totem/castles ect. USD worth is speculation at this point. Their true USD value will be seen once minting new items for game-play becomes possible. Secondary markets have TOTEMS for sale (https://hive-engine.com/trade/TOTEMC). A common TOTEM currently costs roughly $23 USD on the secondary markets. I haven't browsed the in game market of Splinterlands but TOTEMS might be for sale there as well. I haven't made any claims yet so I am not the best source for pointing out the steps/ all available options. I believe there is a "boost" that can be purchased for 10,000 DEC or DECB during the Surveying process (Boost End Date: June 3rd). To the best of my knowledge this purchase is voluntary and is called a Starter Package (three are available) Source: https://splinterlands.gitbook.io/the-secret-of-praetoria/phase-1-surveying/starter-packages
