Tide Biter Hits 5000% Yearly ROA In Rental!

Two days ago, I did something crazy.

If you have been monitoring the rental market, you might have realised the rental for some of the cards spiked two days ago. Some attributed the spike to bots, while others like me were still unsure what was going on.

Anyway, among all the cards with high rentals, what caught my attention was Tide Biter, a Water Epic Reward card. For a card that was valued around 300 DEC, players/bots were snapping up daily rentals of around 30 DEC. Given that rentals are in 2 day blocks, this means the owner of the cards would get around 60 DEC after 2 days. That's already 20% of the cost of the card. How is that possible?

So I did something crazy.

I bought 50 Tide Biters.

Then I rented all 50 Tide Biters out.

In summary, I spent 15,260 DEC on 50 Tide Biters (305.2 DEC on average) and I have gotten 1,595 DEC/day (before fees) in rental from these 50 cards (31.9 DEC on average) for the past 2 days. That's 3,190 DEC (before fees) of rental income over 2 days.

If I were to factor the rental income into my cost, my net cost (excluding fees) would be 305.2 - 31.9 - 31.9 = 241.4 DEC.

Of course, such stuff can't never be permanent as the supply will fill the demand sooner or later. As the dust settles, at time of writing, Tide Biter is selling at 237 DEC and the daily rental rate is 0.2 DEC/day.

Looks like my crazy move didn't quite pay off. Or is it too early to tell?

In any case, it was good fun! To be honest, it was more exciting than playing the Splinterlands battles! Hehe!
