Little update: A big thanks to those who are following this story so far! In case you are wondering, this is a self-written story (an amateur attempt I know) during the days when I was fascinated by the stuff about knights, castles, kingdoms and sorcery, you get what I mean. For those who wish to check out the previous chapters, here's the link! With that let the adventure continue!

Chapter 35

"My Lord, you summoned me?"

"Is everything ready and good to go?"

"Yes, my Lord. We have over one hundred thousand skeletal warriors and I have nearly a thousand battlefiends at my command."

"That's good to hear. You will lead the skeletal warriors into Bresburg tonight. I suppose there won't be much resistance over there as most of the forces are located in northern Doria. Don't use the battlefiends until we know where Selera is located."

"Yes, my Lord."

"You may go."

The Perisher stood at the top of the crystal tower and he saw the castle faintly in the distance. He had been waiting for more than twenty years for this day to happen. Tonight, the final battle will begin and he believed nothing could stop him from conquering Doria.

"King Welrock, your days are numbered."

And the Perisher laughed, loud enough to strike fear into the Dorians' hearts.

"We request to see the King!" Selera commanded as she stamped her authority.

"May I know your purpose?" asked one of the palace guards.

"I don't have time for all the storytelling. Now let me pass or you'll be sorry!"

Before the palace guard could reply, Edward had tackled him from the side and he fell to the ground, allowing the two of them to continue the barge into the castle. After their last hurdle, they saw the King, who was not amused at their level of disrespect shown.

"Selera, though you have saved my life before, it doesn't mean you can do whatever you wish at my residence."

"Now let me ask you, if I had to go out again and go through the standard procedure, how many days do you think it will take before I get to see your face?"

King Welrock knew she was right and he switched the topic, "So what is so urgent that you have to see me this very instant?"

Selera hesitated and looked at the surrounding guards and servants. King Welrock caught her hint and signalled for them to leave the room.

When they were gone, Selera whispered, "It's about Maltov."

"What? Isn't he dead?"

"Oh, so you wanted him dead?"

"No, Selera, that's not what I meant. He's my successor, why would I want him dead? So where is him right now?"

Edward chipped in, "That's what we wanted to ask you."

"To put it simply, we thought we had him under watch but we lost him. As for whether he's alive or dead, I can't give you an answer." Selera answered.

"So what else can I do for you?"

"Inform me once you spot his presence. I shall take my leave."

"Wait! How do I find you then?"

"Am I really hard to find?" quipped Selera.

Edward was about to reach out for the handle of the door when the door flung open.

A soldier ran in, shouting simultaneously, "King Welrock, Bresburg is under attack!"

"Attacked by what?" questioned King Welrock.

The soldier replied, "Monsters! Many of them. I don't know what they are."

King Welrock did not know exactly what to do, and rashly decided to lead the troops to Bresburg.

However, Selera, who had not left the room, protested, "Bresburg is too far. By the time you reach there, the Perisher would have consolidated his forces."

"So what do you suggest?"

Edward answered, "Looking at the layout of the city, I think you should protect your central town, Iglius. Am I right, Aunt Selera?"

She nodded, and volunteered to take Edward and a group of troops to defend Iglius.
