Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - Battle Of The Summoners

Time flies! Just completed the 46th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me.

Had 6 battles this time and it was not an easy round. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 2nd!

So for the final result, we got 2nd out of 10 guilds and got 754 Merits and around 11 SPS! We are back to the podium and that's a good result!

Individually, I had 6 fights this time and I won 3 of them. I couldn't repeat the form in my earlier brawls and I guess there will always be ups and downs and we can't possibly do well all the time.

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Trapp Falloway

I was gambling that my opponent would not spend 6 out of 14 mana on Cursed Windeku in this low mana battle but I was wrong. And it was even a max level one for the brawl. Trapp Falloway was no match for Cursed Windeku as expected and my team was outmuscled by the max team.

Battle 2 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Isgald Vorst

This was one of another battles that I felt that I couldn't do anything more. I had a ton of misses against the opposing of Serpent of Eld, and I came up 1 turn short at the end and lost this intense battle. I don't usually lose Water vs Water matchups so this was a little disappointing.

Battle 3 - WIN

Opponent fled. Phew. I would take this win now.

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Sola Ranjell

Sola Ranjell got her debut and it was a good and comfortable win. My team of 3 Legendary and 3 Epic cards were just too strong in this battle and all 6 cards were intact at the end. Credit to the summoner boost and the Magic damage output was really high!

MVP: Delwyn Dragonscale

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

My choice of summoner was spot-on and it neutralised my opponent's summoner boost. With Back to Basics battle modifier in place, it was really a competition of damage output turn by turn and my team had the higher one. MVP would have surely have to be Bortus this time.

Battle 6 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: None

How fortunes were reversed, and this time, it was my summoner's boost that got neutralised! My plan for the Melee plan was ruined and I wasn't able to overcome the difference in card strength especially when the cards were very similar.

So that sums up my 6 battles for this brawl! A 50% win rate - at least I still passed.

The Merits are coming in fast and I have enough Merits for my 22nd Gladius case! 2 Rares and 3 Commons, that's fine I guess.
