Battle Mage Secrets - Diamond I And New Rating Record!

image.png

The theme for the current "Battle Mage Secret" challenge is Little League ruleset this time! This means only units and summoners with a mana cost of 4 or less may be used.

It's not always easy to get the specific ruleset, but if you play hard enough, you definitely can find one! This time I was lucky enough to have one - woohoo!

So here's the interesting battle that I encountered.

Anyway, I thought it would be still be interesting to introduce some useful cards and show how their strengths can be maximised especially with a particular ruleset. In this post, the featured card is a Epic Dragon card, Fire Spitter!
image.png

Fire Spitter is one of the earlier cards in the Splinterlands ecosystem. At 4 mana, it's 2 Ranged damage, packs 4 HP and has Flying and 4 speed. It's a very strong card because of the all round stats but I think it's hardly used because Dragon summoners are not quite popular. But this card shines in Little League battles because it's at the maximum 4 mana cap and is a very strong Epic card. I wonder, how many of you are seeing this card for the first time?

As usual, here's the lore for Fire Spitter for your reading interest:

Small but mighty, the Fire Spitters have recently descended upon the Dragon Splinter of Draykh-Nahka, where they fit right in. They come from a faraway exotic place only known as the Pocket Dimension. The Pocket Dimension has many key differences to the Splinterlands, but lots of things in common as well. Most of the monsters there are smaller than those native to the Splinterlands, including the Fire Spitter. However, even the smallest Fire Spitters can produce a magnificent blaze, large enough to easily incinerate a cottage in a few minutes.

Battle Type & Team Lineup

PositionCard/LevelMana
SummonerBrighton Bloom4

This was a very tricky ruleset with Going The Distance combined with Little League. I needed more depth in my card collections so I tapped on Brighton Bloom to expand my selection to Dragon cards as well.

PositionCard/LevelMana
1Venari Marksrat3

Venari Marksrat is positioned as the tank to get Martyr for the adjacent card, and such abilities can be important in this Little League fight.

PositionCard/LevelMana
2Naga Assassin2

Naga Assassin has a high speed of 5, and with Martyr boost, she might be hard to hit and this could buy some time for my backline.

PositionCard/LevelMana
3Fire Spitter4

Fire Spitter gets a rare appearance because I hardly use the card. With 2 Ranged damage, that's the best one can get for Little League cards. With a good amount of HP, it provides further protection.

PositionCard/LevelMana
4Dark Astronomer4

Dark Astronomer is also a rare card that I hardly play but it's put to the test in this round. A slow speed of 1 can be worrisome, but in this case, it's the 4 HP that is more important to delay the attacks.

PositionCard/LevelMana
5Soul Strangler3

Soul Strangler is a strong card but it's relatively squishy. As long as it survives long enough, the damage can be pretty significant.

PositionCard/LevelMana
6Ravenhood Warden4

Ravenhood Warden is one of my favourite cards to play for Death because it is such a team player. Even though the Protect ability cannot be used here, it's a still a good card considering the choice of cards are quite limited.

  • Pre Battle: When I saw the lineups, I was definitely feeling optimistic because it's 6 cards vs 3 cards. Venari Crystalsmith might be tricky to deal but I have 6 cards, so every bit counts.
    image.png
  • Round 1: Everything went by so quickly. Both team lost 1 card but I was definitely in full control of this battle.
    image.png
  • Round 2: And we were done! A simple Level 1 team did the trick!

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? A simple Level 1 team did the trick as I said! It's really down to strategy, maximising my card selection by going for Dragon summoners, and then packing my team with a full 6 cards to take full advantage of the damage output.

What's the Battle Mage Secret? Take a look at Fire Spitter - it's a pretty good card!

With that, it's another NEW RECORD! I have made it to Diamond I with a record high of 3540 rating!

Sometimes, the quality matters more than the quantity. Quite proud of my win rate this season. That's 81% (30 out of 37)! :)

So that's all I have! What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!

Nice move in the lineup.
Does your Death team is the strongest in the collection, considering the higher number of max out warriors?

Thanks! My cards are only at Bronze level. I think Water is my best, second is Death.
