You know how you just randomly think about people and try to remember a special moment you've had with them in the past, well today for some reasons, my grandma came to my thought. You see both of my grandparents are late and before they passed, I never really got the chance to spend time with any of them because we lived very far away from one another.

But I remember this one time my grandma had come to visit and stayed for some few days. My mom had just given birth to my little brother and my grandma had come to help her in whatever way she could. So for the next couple of days that she was around, she basically did most of the things my mom would usually do and this was because my mom was resting and couldn't do anything herself.

I and my older brothers were also helping out a lot but there were certain things we just couldn't do ourselves, and one of them was cooking.

So there had been this one time grandma had made a meal for us. I took my first bite and I immediately knew I didn't like the food. It wasn't like she didn't know how to cook, it just that she had made one of those meals my dad and his siblings used to enjoy back when they used to stay at the village, reasons why when I went to tell my dad that I wasn't enjoying the meal, he was surprised and told me he was enjoying his.

It wasn't anybodies fault (or maybe it was my parent's for not training us with village food earlier), we just were not used to eating that kind of food. And by that kind of food, it wasn't something strange, it was rice and stew, the stew was just made in an unfamiliar way and had an unfamiliar taste. So I had sneaked out to the backyard and threw mine away, then pretended that I had eaten it.

I came back, dropped my plate and went out to play, only to return later that evening and find out that grandma had reported to my dad that someone threw that food away. I had no idea how she found out, but she did. So I ended up confessing that I was the one who did it because all fingers were already pointing at me, seeing how I had earlier complained about not liking the food.

Thinking about that whole thing kinda gives me a bitter sweet memory because after grandma left our home, that was the last time I saw her before she died. And now I wish I had spent more time with her and ate a lot of her special rice and stew.
