Zum Record Store Day 2015 gab es eine Box von kettcar, in der alle bisher veröffentlichten Langspieler sich in einer einzigen, netten Verpackung tummeln. Da ich bis dahin noch kein kettcar-Vinyl besaß, war die Zielstellung klar: Box kaufen. Bei der Gelegenheit habe ich direkt dem Plattenladen um die Ecke mein Vertrauen geschenkt. Es war eine Menge los am RSD, aber meine Box sollte meine Box werden und das klappte auch.

Musik

Über die Musik von kettcar möchte ich gar keine Worte verlieren. Ist meine Sache und läuft immer wieder. Fünf Alben zusammenfassen ist auch nicht Sinn der Sache hier. Enthalten sind, in chronologischer Reihenfolge nach Erscheinungsdatum, „Du und wieviel von Deinen Freunden“, „Von Spatzen und Tauben, Dächern und Händen“, „Sylt“, die Live-LP „Fliegende Bauten“ und „Zwischen den Runden“.

Aufmachung

Die Verpackung der Box ist grau und hat ein Bullauge mit einem Fenster aus einer Plastikfolie. Um das Bullauge herum haben die fünf Musiker ihre Unterschriften gesetzt, was mich bei diesem Release besonders freut. Die enthaltenen Platten sind allesamt Picture-LPs mit dem jeweiligen Albumcover auf der A-Seite und einer Liste der enthaltenen Stücke auf der B-Seite. Dieser Anblick allein lohnt sich. Neben dem Vinyl liegt noch ein Booklet mit allen Songtexten in der Box. Die Gestaltung ist so einfach gehalten, wie sie eben gehalten werden kann. Keine schönen Bilder, keine Form von künstlerischer Gestaltung. Texte. Der Reihe nach. Bei aller Liebe zum gesamten Release: das finde ich schade, denn die Texte sind bei einer Band wie kettcar für mich zentraler Bestandteil der Musik und hätten hier gerne etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit bekommen können. Die Werkschau scheint auf 500 Stück limitiert zu sein, denn auf der Rückseite befindet sich bei mir die Angabe 197/500.

Fazit

Als ich von dem Release erfuhr, war für mich klar, dass ich die Box unbedingt haben wollte. Glücklicherweise ist es mir gelungen, eine Box zu kaufen und jede Platte rutschte bei mir innerhalb der erste Tage schon mindestens zwei Mal über den Teller. Die Picture-LPs sind mit den Album-Covern sind sehr schön anzusehen und für den Preis von ca. 80€ gab es die Werkschau zu einem sehr fairen Kurs. Bei mir werden die Platten nicht eingepackt und ungenutzt im Schrank verstauben, dafür ist mir die Musik zu wichtig.

Ein Wort vielleicht noch an die Leute, die die Teile seit dem RSD auf diversen Plattformen zu überhöhten Preisen verkaufen: f*** you.

For Record Store Day 2015 there was a box from kettcar, in which all previously released long players romp in a single, nice packaging. Since I did not own any kettcar vinyl until then, the objective was clear: buy box. On this occasion I directly put my trust in the record store around the corner. There was a lot going on at the RSD, but my box should be my box and that worked out.

Music

About the music of kettcar I don't want to lose any words. It's my thing and runs over and over again. Five albums summarize is also not sense of the thing here. Included are, in chronological order by release date, "Du und wieviel von Deinen Freunden", "Von Spatzen und Tauben, Dächern und Händen", "Sylt", the live LP "Fliegende Bauten" and "Zwischen den Runden".

Presentation

The box packaging is gray and has a porthole with a window made of a plastic sheet. Around the porthole, the five musicians have put their signatures, which makes me especially happy about this release. The included records are all picture LPs with the respective album art on the A-side and a list of the included tracks on the B-side. This sight alone is worthwhile. In addition to the vinyl, there is also a booklet with all the song lyrics in the box. The design is kept as simple as it can be kept. No pretty pictures, no form of artistic design. Lyrics. In order. With all love for the whole release: I find this a pity, because the lyrics are for me a central part of the music with a band like kettcar and could have gladly gotten a little more attention here. The work show seems to be limited to 500 pieces, because on the back is with me the indication 197/500.

Conclusion

When I heard about the release, it was clear to me that I really wanted to have the box. Fortunately I managed to buy a box and every record slid over my plate at least twice within the first few days. The picture LPs with the album covers are very nice to look at and for the price of about 80€ I got the work show for a very fair price. For me, the records will not be packed up and gather dust unused in the closet, for me the music is too important.

A word perhaps to the people who sell the parts since the RSD on various platforms at inflated prices: f*** you.
