Vote Facade

I had a longwinded post about this but decided it is stupid.

Which I now realise is basically what I was getting at. The way Hive works with votes and the little social contract we have of not "buying" votes, cough cough , is pretty stupid.

It reminds me a lot of the spirit behind just about any affirmative action implementation.

Mainly because in the end people still "buy" votes, not that I care much, it is DPOS and I know my place with only a couple shares. The same really goes for anyone else with below hmm I guess 100K shares?

On the contrary it does baffle me a bit that "vote buying" is even an issue, given the 50% curation return. Supposedly this makes it non profitable so even if someone does buy votes it is a loss of sorts.

Voting rings? Hmmm, we can also vote up to how much our stake is worth and no more, so mainly what I hear then is that people do not like too many people voting.

Oh self voting, same vein right.

Really these are issues in a social system, but Hive is not a social system and as it grows it cannot pertain to be one, even though at the minute scale we currently are it can surely convince itself of that.

As I said I don't care for any of the above in a system that is built specifically to allow such things. The absolute scale that some accounts or community efforts would need to be to truly govern, and control vote behaviour even now is limited to a bottom of the barrel scraping capacity.

This is obviously evident in looking at trending then maybe searching how many people bitch about Hivewatchers.

Anyway votes and downvotes get touted as some form of community governance, and this is mainly to make it seem like Hive has some holy grail system , but the simple conclusion I make on it is; That Hive is a broken system.

Now I benefit from Hive and many do and for all intents and purpose many make something from Hive that otherwise might not be able to make anything anywhere else.

Regardless, as things scale things will get worse in the "governance" department, mainly because the system does not protect itself.

As it stands, there are things a normal user should not do and there are things everyone must accept from supposed "projects" and big dogs, because I said this is DPOS and counter intuitively the whole system is designed to reward those who band together... Well as much as any group of elected officials do.

Bored now.

you got that right... I have observed that some or maybe just a few communities are like that. They support only those who are within their "close group", so to speak. On the other hand there are a very few communities that would curate an article for the content and not because "who" wrote it.
