A Tale Of Joy And Hustle

For me, this past month was filled with hustle and some exciting events. March is a month I had been anticipating from the beginning of the year, because we had already planned a family meetup, to discuss and sort out various matters arising in the family and community at large.

You know the saying "Get out of your comfort zone if you want to succeed", this is the reality of my brothers and me. We left home to seek greener pastures in faraway lands, and now we come home only to visit for a while and go back to the street of our hustles.

I guess life was not meant to be easy after all, because humans do not appreciate easy things. We now hustle like there's no tomorrow, and it's now a part of us. A friend of mine was complaining that a 3-day holiday was too long for him, and I was wondering how he became so addicted to working, that rest was now a burden.

I am originally from Bayelsa state Nigeria, but I spent a greater part of my March at Cross River State where I work. My job is a stressful one, in fact, by default, I am supposed to give my full 24 hours to the job every day till I decide to voluntarily resign.

I had already asked for a pass to go home for at least two weeks, and the pass was granted on Monday the 25th of March. I was excited because I would get to visit some old-time friends and celebrate Easter with them as well.

I arrived in Bayelsa the next day, and it was all a refreshing feeling for me. I was welcomed by heavy rainfall and a very cold temperature. I was shocked because there had not been rainfall in other states I passed through while coming.

I then remembered that Bayelsa is a riverine area, and the rain most definitely has to start from here. This was the first exciting thing that I experienced, because the heat level was very high, and everyone was praying and hoping for the rain to fall, and luckily for us, it did when I arrived.

It had been long I experienced the love and care from family members, so I made the most out of it. It was all visiting and greeting one family member to another. Family love is the realest, and I can confidently say that from experience.

I have lots of friends across the state, from old secondary schoolmates to family friends, and my online friends. So I had a lot of visiting to do. One of the most exciting people I visited was Juliet, my secondary schoolmate. I had promised to visit her countless times but I failed. So I decided to use this holiday season to grace her home, which was exciting, fun-filled, and food-filled for me, lol.

Just while I thought the 30th of March was a Holy Saturday, and that I would use this day to rest and sleep at home, I got a call from a friend of mine complaining to me that she couldn't believe I came to town and I have refused to call or visit her. She told me that she was having a huge birthday celebration and she wanted me to come, I had to agree and I visited.

It was Sunday already and the long-awaited day of Easter celebration was here. The celebration is a very important one for many Christians, as it marked the day when Jesus defeated death and rose from the grave bodily.

It is a celebration that comes once every year, and luckily for me, am celebrating this year's own with my family. We went to church, gave thanks, and danced before coming back home to eat the rice and chicken for the celebration, lol.

Sincerely, March was an exciting month for me, and it has got some of the most fun-filled memories in my head right now.
