The long-awaited big day is today, when Nigerian citizens decide who the next president will be. Among the aspiring candidates, we have three strong people from different political parties contesting for the post of president.

The campaign has been radical; the whole of social media has been filled with news about the election, and from all indications, the Nigerian youth have made their choice: the person they believe will turn the situation of our country around for good. I have taken my time to review the three strong candidates based on their histories, and I have made the decision to vote for the man of the people, Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labor Party.
These three strong candidates represent the three main tribes in Nigeria, which are the Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba, and they are members of three political parties: the Labor Party (LP), the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) respectively.
The APC candidate has a very bad history. Imagine a man who sponsors thugs. He is the former governor of Lagos State, Nigeria, where I currently reside, and we have suffered so much at the hands of thugs in the state. These guys are supported fully by this same APC candidate, so they exhort money from people without fear of anyone. This APC candidate has done a lot of damage to the country in the past; he has no single good record, and I really hope he doesn't end up buying voters with money to win at the end because he has what it takes to buy many people's vote. This same APC party has been on the seat for the past 8 years in Nigeria, and nothing good has come from them; it's been from one hardship to another.
The PDP candidate also has no good history. He was once the vice president of Nigeria. Many people believe he will take Nigeria back to slavery, as his previous reign was nothing to write home about.
As a good citizen of my country, I have been doing my part by spreading the news and encouraging people to come out in mass and exercise their civil rights. The time stipulated for voting today is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. I prepared so early to be in the queue because I don't want to be told.
From what I have seen so far and watched since today's update on the vote casting, most people supporting the Labor Party have no voter identification card (PVC). In fact, many of them are just online supporters, taking no physical action. I wonder how we want to bring this change we are craving to reality. Many people were reluctant to get their voter cards, yet they are shouting change. I am not really happy with what I have gathered so far; however, I can only trust God for a better Nigeria. In my community, some people went to people's houses, sharing with them #10,000 each, to come and vote for APC. Imagine...
Well, I have done my part by exercising my civil rights; no man or woman can change my choice with money.
Our polling unit suddenly became rowdy; people are out there causing trouble; all these things are expected anyway. This is Nigeria. But then, I am positive that things will be fine in the end.
If you are a Nigerian reading this blog, what's the situation from your end? Did you cast your vote, or are you among the online supporters or prayer warriors? lol
The change begins with me and you.

Thank you my dear
It's the responsibility for all at least everyone above 18 years . Deciding who the president will be is a sensitive exercise that will affect everyone.
I am so tensed right now about the result ππ
Hopefully it will be positive π
The result published or you are waiting for it.
Thank you for sharing. Your thoughtful approach to voting is inspiring.
I vote in the U.S., but there are still plenty of times where I've passed on voting for smaller local candidates, such as a mayor. (More of a hassle) I usually only vote for president and other big positions, but I really should be more involved locally too as it's all connected still.
Best wishes! Have a wonderful week!
Everything matters when it comes to making decisions like this.
I am happy to hear that you also get involved in exercising your civic right

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the election will go well and you'll get a good president and future. <3
Here the vote buying is not so blatant, but it still exists - vote for us and you'll get lower taxes, vote for us and we'll make sure you get a job... all promises that are forgotten the day after the election. But people fall for it, every time.
People also fall for empty promises here
I wonder if we can't learn our lessons
Well, I am waiting for the results because what happened today in some polling units was terrible
