Fictional Time Travel To Meet An Historical Person

(Edited)

So, I pull into my driveway after a long day at work to see an old English Police Box on my front lawn. My first thought is it's somethings my son and his mates have picked up from someone at the pub. Too good to be just thrown away (they must have thought) so let's just store it at Dad's place until they can fix it up and sell it.

Frustrated that's there is yet again more clutter that needs sorting but genuinely interested in the object, I decide to look inside. To my surprise, Mr Tom Baker is inside what appears to the perfect replica of the famous Doctor Who Tardis.

We exchange a few pleasantries and I am glad to hear that he is not here to save the world from some intergalactic threat but is just having a few technical issues.

Me, usually being pretty handy with this sort of stuff, offers to have a look. It seems that the time travel Tardis is having its usual time and place selector issues. Instead of inspecting the selector switch I go straight to the power source and notice it seems totally overloaded with extra unnecessary optional extras: air conditioners, big screen TV's, bar fridges and PlayStations, etc. I suggest turning off all the stuff that is not required for his
travel during time jumps.

Tom does a few tests and seems impressed. He offers to give me a go and asks where and when I would like to travel to. I choose Manchester in the UK, 1905, on the funeral day of my Great Grandfather. I do not know a lot of detail about the man but he was born in Norwich in the south east of England. He spent a bit of time in the army, stationed in a number of different places and then settled down in Manchester.

I had chosen this time because my father was born in this area and told me lots of the family stories and I am keen to know and understand a bit more of the family history.

Plus, I had this idea.

I enter the funeral wake and engage with all the family members I know through my family tree historical research. I enter and chat as if I was a friend of the deceased from this army days. I finally get to meet the deceased's son, my young grandfather and ask if he has his father's army pay book? Of course he does because the wake is at the family home which I had found in the 1891 Census records. The book somehow gets passed down the family line and I end up with it in the future.

While no one is looking, I quickly write a few words in the book and hand it back to him.

My grandfather cottons on that I am not from the army, so I tell him I am from the future and am able to half convince his inquisitive mind with all my family history knowledge.

Doctor Who says it is time to go! Grandfather asks what is it like in the future. I respond, "Some things are better, some are worse. The planet gets very heavy populated, we are now at a very interesting crossroad."
My final remark is to ask him to look after that army pay book and I tell him that everything will be ok.

As we enter the Tardis to return home I see my grandfather looking at the army paybook. He yells out, "Who is Future Brad and why does he need to buy as much Bitcoin as possible before 2013, hodl and then sell it just before November 2021 in preparation for the massive HIVE pump of 23/24?"

I do hope you followed your own advice!

Me? I collected a bunch of satoshi from https://freebitco.in/?r=2010582 over the years, and spent them on a new computer among other things. Still got some left and hoping they'll grow in value :)
