The origin of the species/ El origen de las especies (Story: ENG/ESP)
The origin of the species
When he saw the sea he was so amazed that he was certain that his creature must have part of that work inside him. So he took a little of it, what would fit in the palm of his hand, and kneaded the dust into clay. Between his hands, the clay acquired beautiful shapes, moldable, flexible, docile, and the god, ready for anything, gave a little of his breath, a slight breath to what he called breath of life and that piece of clay began to breathe.
The same happened with the trees and the mountains. From the trees he was impressed by their capacity for growth, their detachment to provide shelter, shade and fruit; and from the mountains, their strength, the fortitude to remain unperturbed despite tremors or seismic movements. From both works he took large quantities and continued kneading.
As if he were an artist and not a god, though many artists are creators, he began to shape his work. When it was done, the others came to see it and mocked because it had taken so long and the creature he had made looked just like the other animals and even imperfect. However, that god knew it was different.
You will see when it sprouts from him what you have done with the others.
And so, the first surprise was when the sea appeared. It not only came out of his body in the form of sweat, but in the form of tears. Thick salty tears that spoke of the infinity that this creature carried inside. Likewise, they were astonished when the tree appeared: protective man, embracing and bearing fruit. Not to mention when the mountain was visible: serenity, despite the telluric and significant movements within.
But there was no greater astonishment than when the bird was born, because with that quality man was more perfect: not only did he know that he could fly in his thoughts, his spirit, his soul, but that he had a song, the word, which he could use to be heard. Then, the other gods, overshadowed, asked that that creature at birth did not have all those qualities, that he would acquire them little by little.
And so it is that the first thing that comes out is the sea, then the trees and the mountains, and finally the bird. Some legends say that some men die without knowing that last evolutionary phase: they never managed to fly and although they spoke, they were never heard by anyone.
