It is very much easy to determine the quality of harvest we want to get right from the very first moments of production.
If the rains are favorable which is the only natural factor we do not have control over, we can carefully watch out for the conditions that will guarantee a maximum harvest for us.

Some of the proper farming practices we can observe are

  • Proper planting and at the right season. The best time to plant rice depends on location and its amount of rainfall. In some states, the rains come a bit early and in such areas one can decide to start farming rice as early as in the months of March.
The reason is this while planting or transplanting rice, one has to be careful that the farms do not get too waterlogged before planting.
As soon as the soil is damp, planting can commence so that the seeds can germinate easily.

But once the waters get to the the feet level, it it best to transplant immediately.
But transplanting rice is water logged fields like this one below is usually a war before rice can survive such huge water.

It can get flushes away by the excess water.
So it is good to observe the amount of rainfall to determine the best time to plant rice.

  • Another Factor is a timely application of Chemicals.
Inorganic chemicals used to remove weeds from growing rice often affects productivity.
Applying the right quantity and at the right time will reduce the adverse effect of the chemicals on the growing rice. And in some cases hand weeding is advisable if it is possible.
Hand weeding keeps the green plants in their right conditions until growth whereas chemicals can react with the leaves to change their color from dark -green to yellowing of leaves and sometimes the rice leaves become dead and rot away.

  • Applying the right kind of fertilizer and at the right time.
Throughout our years of farming, we have been using NPK fertilizer for our rice production. During the dry seasons we have grading cows on the field who also assist with adding orgasmic fertilizer from their cow dungs into the fields prior to a new farming season.

From observing all of these I believe that you can see the quality if rice leaves and how healthy the growth of our farms have been so far in this year.
