My Journey To Motherhood.

Hello, amazing people. It's my first time posting here, and I hope you enjoy my story.

I have been able to experience the feelings that come with being a mother, and I'm so excited to share it with you.

In the year 2022, I got married to one of God's amazing sons, and it's been all shades of amazing. I mean, being with one who loves and understands you is something every woman longs for, and I'm glad I am able to experience this feeling.

Seven months into our marriage, I felt sick; the kind of sickness that scared me. I later got to know I had taken in. At first, I was scared - scared because of what I had read about pregnancy and how painful the whole process could be. Should I say I had a mixed feeling? Like the one that makes you ask yourself a 'so, I'm pregnant?' kind of question.

It was in the month of April last year that I discovered I was some weeks gone. I felt so excited that a little human was growing inside of me, and I decided to enjoy every moment of pregnancy.

Pregnancy came with cravings (though it wasn't really much), tiredness most times, and that nauseous feeling. After the first trimester, I didn't really feel much of that.

Fast forward to the third trimester. I just couldn't wait to have my baby. Every day, I imagined what she'd look like; I looked forward to seeing her.

My EDD was on the 10th of December, but I gave birth on the 23rd. I now understand well why it is said that mothers should be respected.

After pushing out the baby, I had a tear. The nurses started to stitch me. To be honest, that pain was something I never imagined.

After the stitching, I was moved to the ward where my baby and my husband were. I was tired and all I needed was sleep. It was past 3am. I gave birth around 2:22 am. Before going to sleep, I messaged my brothers to let them know that I had just put to bed. By 4am, I went to sleep. I had in mind that by daybreak, I'd go back home.

Well, it didn't happen that way.

I happened to be very thirsty, and I woke up to ask my husband to help me with some warm water from the flask. When he gave me the water to drink, I tried sitting up, but the next thing I saw was 'blood' rushing out like a tap.

I was bleeding seriously! The nurses were called, and they started checking me to know what the cause could be. It lasted for over an hour without the nurses finding out what the cause was.

At this moment, I was weak. All I could do was utter silent prayers to God because I thought I wouldn't survive it.

We were transferred to another hospital. We had to leave our baby with the woman who came to stay with us while my husband ordered an Uber so we could go to the hospital we were transferred to.

As soon as we got there, my husband had to start running around for registration, blood tests, and some other things.I was moved to the theatre room. The doctor there checked me to know the cause of the bleeding. He said there were some blood clots still inside my belly, and with that, he started packing them out... It was another round of pain. I screamed!

I was stitched the second time and was put on drip. The bleeding had stopped, but I had lost a lot of blood. I was taken to the emergency ward after that to continue my treatment. Because of the lost blood, I had to take blood drip.

All these while, my mind was on my baby. I hadn't carried her yet, and I wondered how she would be. I didn't go home until the next day in the evening after I was discharged.

As soon as I got home, I was served a plate of pepper soup just the way I loved it. My baby was bathing, so I couldn't carry her immediately.

After dressing her up, she was given to me to carry. As a mother, you could imagine my joy.

Being a mother has been all shades of amazing. I mean, the sleepless nights, the sacrifices, the silent tears, the ability to face those fears... In all, I'm grateful that I have a beautiful gift. Each time I look at her, I can't help but smile at how God has blessed me.
