Vacation in Cabo Frio, Beach and Fun! [EN/PT]

The state where I live is not bordered by the sea, and whenever we think about vacations, we think of the beach! Cabo Frio might be the main destination for many people here where I live. This city is relatively close, around 300 kilometers from my city. If you've heard of Brazil, you know that our country is geographically vast, so 300 kilometers is just 300 kilometers!

Well, it's an interstate trip, and I need to travel to the state of Rio de Janeiro, where the city of Cabo Frio is located. Besides being one of the closest places to enjoy a beach, the city is designed in a very welcoming way for tourists. There is a wide and well-maintained beach, as well as various tourist spots perfect for taking photos or simply admiring the beautiful natural scenery of this urban area.

What I found amazing about Cabo Frio is that if you stroll along the coast, you'll come across various different places and environments. I took a long walk and made some recordings:

O estado onde moro não é banhado pelo mar e sempre que pensamos em férias pensamos em praia! Cabo Frio talvez seja o principal destino de muitos aqui de onde moro, essa cidade é relativamente perto, algo em torno de 300 quilômetros da minha cidade. Se você já ouviu falar do Brasil, sabe que nosso país tem um extensão geográfica grande, então 300 quilômetros é apenas 300 quilômetros!

Bem, é uma viajem interestadual, preciso me deslocar até o estado do Rio de Janeiro, onde fica localizada a cidade de Cabo frio. Além de ser um dos lugares mais perto para curtir uma praia, a cidade é projetada de uma forma muito legal para receber os turistas. Existe um extensão de praia ampla e bem cuidada, além de vário pontos turísticos propícios para tirar fotos ou mesmo para contemplar a valiosa vista natural desse lugar, apesar de ser um local urbano.

O que achei legal em Cabo Frio, é que, se você ir passeando pela costa, vai encontrar vário lugares e ambientes diferentes. Eu dei um grande passeio e fiz alguns registros:

The place above is Iguaba, a beach very close by that I enjoyed visiting a lot. Actually, it's not exactly a beach; it's a lagoon, although it looks a lot like a beach. A curious fact is that this lagoon in the Região dos Lagos (Lakes Region) is the largest in Latin America. The water is in such good preservation state that it's possible to find seahorses in this lagoon, but I wasn't lucky enough to spot one this time; I've never seen one up close.

Continuing the journey I made along the coast, I found some really cool things, like this airplane (or maybe it's a jet?).

Esse lugar acima é Iguaba, uma praia bem perto, do qual eu gostei muito de visitar. Na verdade, não é bem uma praia, é uma lagoa, apesar de parecer muito com uma praia. Um fato curioso é que essa lagoa da Região dos Lagos é a maior da América Latina. A água esta em estado de preservação tão boa que é possível encontrar Cavalo-marinhos nessa lagoa, mas não tive a sorte de encontrar um dessa vez, eu nunca vi um de perto.

Continuando a trajetória que fiz nesse passeio pela costa, eu encontrei algumas coisas bem legai, como esse avião ( ou será que é um Jato?).

This jet is located in the city of São Pedro da Aldeia, a neighboring city of Cabo Frio, and since it's so close, I decided to take a trip there as well! I found it very interesting to have this type of monument on display; I had never seen something like this up close. From what I understand, this is a fighter jet (or a jet) from the Brazilian Navy and must be a quite old model that has been retired.

The next day, in Cabo Frio, I took the opportunity to go for a walk on the beach with my pets. Unfortunately, it wasn't a very sunny day, but I didn't want to miss the chance to go to the beach, take a dip, and let my dogs enjoy the sea breeze. This part of the beach allows dogs, as long as you take care of their needs.

Esse jato fica na cidade de São Pedro da Aldeia, uma cidade Vizinha de Cabo Frio e já que é uma cidade tão perto, resolvi dar esse passeio por lá também! Achei muito interessante ter esse tipo de monumento exposto, nunca tinha visto algo parecido de perto. Pelo que entendi, esse é um caça (ou um jato) da marinha brasileira e deve ser um modelo bem antigo que saiu de linha.

Já em Cabo Frio no dia seguinte, eu aproveitei para dar um passeio pela praia com os meus pets. Infelizmente não estava um dia com muito sol, mas eu não iria perder a oportunidade de ir a paria, dar um mergulho e levar os dogs para curtir a maresia. Visto que nessa parte da praia é permitido levar cachorros, desde que você cuide das necessidades deles.

Dunas Beach was our chosen spot for the day. It has a large area where we could run with the dogs, and there were fewer people around, making it an ideal place if you're looking for some peace and quiet.

This beach is also a favorite spot for paraglider enthusiasts, although I'm not entirely sure of the name, as it involves motorized paragliding. I found it quite enjoyable to watch them take off and fly. Perhaps on another occasion, I might take the risk and try it out myself!

A Praia da Dunas foi o nosso local escolhido do dia, tem um grande espaço para poder correr com os cachorros e menos movimento de pessoas, é um lugar ideal se sua intenção é um pouco de sossego.

Essa praia também foi escolhida de praticantes de paraglider, na verdade eu não sei o nome, já que é um parapente motorizado. Achei bem divertido ficar observando ele levantarem voo, talvez em uma próxima oportunidade eu me arrisque a praticar!

Later on, we went to Forte Beach. As the name suggests, this beach is home to a fort that nowadays is frequented by tourists but used to serve as a fortification and support in the past. Cabo Frio is one of the oldest cities in Brazil, and this fort was probably significant during the navigation period.

During this visit, I took some photos with my son on another day when the sun didn't seem eager to show up.

Um pouco mais tarde fomos à Praia do Forte. Como o próprio nome diz, nessa praia se localiza um forte, que hoje é frequentada pelos turistas mas que antigamente servia como uma fortificação e apoio. Cabo Frio é uma da cidades mais antigas do Brasil, e provavelmente esse forte foi importante no período das navegações.

Nessa visita tirei algumas fotos com meu filho em mais um dia em que o sol não estava com muita vontade de aparecer.

There is a short path to reach the Fort of Cabo Frio, and honestly? I don't think just any tourist can make it there, haha. It's a slightly steep and uneven route, and if someone is wearing flip-flops and has wet feet, they might take a few tumbles. But since my son and I are resourceful, we made it there without any problems!

Existe um pequeno trajeto para chegar no Forte de Cabo Frio, e sinceramente? Acho que não é qualquer turista que consegue ir até lá não haha. Tem um percurso um pouco íngreme e irregular, que se a pessoa estiver de chinelo e com o pé molhado vai levar alguns tombos. Mas como eu e meu filho somo sagazes, chegamos lá intactos!

On the way back from the fort, I came across this stall selling seashells. I found this type of commerce interesting, with many beautiful shells on display. My son tried to find some on the beaches, but he didn't have much luck. I must admit, I was tempted to buy a few and hide them close to him for him to discover, haha!

Ao voltar do Forte, me deparei com essa barraca onde vendia-se conchas. Achei interessante esse tipo de comércio, muitas conchas bonitas. Meu filho tentou encontrar algumas pelas praias, mas não teve muita sorte e confesso que fiquei atentado em comprar algumas e esconder perto dele para acha-las haha!

Still on our way back from the fort, we encountered some fishermen arriving, and the birds went crazy for a piece of fish. The smell in that area wasn't very pleasant, but it was fascinating to see so many birds gathered there, and I took the opportunity to snap a photo of them.

Ainda voltando do forte, tinha alguns pescadores chegando, e as aves ficaram malucas por um pedaço de peixe. O cheiro nessa parte não estava muito agradável, mas foi legal ver tantas aves reunidas e aproveitei para tirar uma foto delas.

As dusk approached, we took another stroll through the city, and this time we went to the center of Cabo Frio, where there is a small fair. I noticed many handicraft shops with a lot of cool works on display. The trade of these items must be quite strong, as many tourists want to take home some souvenirs from this place. I myself bought a few items.

Quando estava anoitecendo demos outro passeio pela cidade e dessa vez foi ao centro de Cabo Frio, onde tem uma pequena feira. Observei muitas lojas de artesanatos e muitos trabalhos bem legais. O comércio desse itens deve ser muito forte, visto que muitos turistas querem levar alguma lembrança desse lugar. Eu mesmo comprei alguns.

Still during this nighttime stroll, I came across something interesting: there are many statues scattered around the square! Actually, this square is quite peculiar to me; it's not a typical square in the center of the city but rather a square that extends along the beach. Throughout this walk, I tried to take photos of all the statues, but it's not possible; there are just too many of them!

Ainda durante esse passeio noturno me deparei com uma coisas interessante: existem muitas estátuas espalhas pela praça! Na verdade essa é uma praça bem peculiar para mim: não é uma praça no centro da cidade, mas sim uma praça que se estende pela praia. No decorrer desse passeio, eu tentei tirar fotos de todas as estátuas, mas não dá, são muitas!

This is truly an interesting and perhaps a bit different from what I've seen before!

In the end, I can say that this was a really great trip, and I loved every second of it. In total, I visited 6 cities, and Cabo Frio was one of the places that caught my attention the most for various reasons, but the main one was the hospitality of the locals and the diverse environments we can visit in such a short distance. I will definitely return here as soon as possible!

Esse é realmente um fato interessante e talvez um pouco diferente do que já vi!

Por fim, eu posso dizer que essa foi uma viajem muito legal e que adorei cada segundo. No total eu visitei 6 cidades e Cabo Frio foi um dos que mais me chamou a atenção por vário motivos, mas o principal foi a hospitalidade dos moradores e também pelos variáveis ambientes que podemos visitar em pouco espaço. Com certeza vou retornar aqui assim que possível!
