Have you ever been to a restaurant and tried to act like you're rich and just forgot to ask for their menu before ordering your food?
For this prompt, I will be focusing mainly on food from eateries and restaurants because if I start talking about the cheap food I eat outside these places, you'd wonder hahaha.
I have a funny story to share with you guys.......
I think this happened about a year ago. It was on a weekday when I was at work.
The day had just started and I was so hungry I couldn't think straight. The only thing I could think about was food, food, and food hahaha.
We usually have someone we would send to get us lunch every day, but she wasn't around so I had to go myself.
So I went to a restaurant not too far from the office and placed my order. Honestly, I've not been to that restaurant before. My friend usually buys food from that same restaurant so I thought their food was affordable.
How can you tell me your salary is 30k a month and you're buying food worth that amount at least four times a week huh? It's just so crazy.
The food I wanted wasn't available at the moment, so I was asked to wait for some time because it was on fire. Even then I did not check the menu. Oh, I remember now, there was no menu on the table, so I just asked them what they had and I made my choice.
*While I was waiting for the food, I was busy pressing my phone. So the waiter came and told me my order was ready to go. I went to pay for the food and my oh my I could not believe what my ears were hearing.
When the person I was paying to said my bill was 7k, I jokingly asked him if he meant 700 naira because to me it was absurd. That's the same quantity of food I would buy at Chicken Republic for just 1500 naira so why is it expensive here😭.
The food had already been packed and handed over to me, so I had no choice but to pay for it. I was devastated, to say the least. That was 7k out of my monthly salary you guys hahaha... That's the same amount I would spend for the week or even two weeks on transport and I spent it in less than an hour.
I was so angry that day, I couldn't even eat the food with a happy face. The hunger that wanted to knock me down, held me up strong hahaha.
When I went back to the office I was looking like I was so sick everyone was concerned and I told them the story. Some laughed at me, and some were sympathizing with me. It's not easy to spend 7k on food for a day you guys! especially if you're broke hahaha. I was so angry with my friend because he didn't warn me about the place.
I'm still a baby and trying to save money, so I won't lie to myself, I can't keep up with that lifestyle. Eating 7k food is for rich kids and it's just too much for me now.
Cheap food? count me in. Hahaha, everyone wants to cut down on expenses and it's not wise to spend too much on food when you earn only a little. I'm sure you all would agree with me on this one.
I can't keep track of the cheapest food I've eaten but boy!! I only buy cheap and healthy food at the same time. Cheap doesn't mean it's less healthy than the expensive ones🤷♀️
I and my sister were regular at Chicken Republic at some point hahaha. So there's this package that's called refill pack and trust me when I say it is a refill pack Indeed.
Almost every night, I and my big sis would go there and buy the pack for dinner.
A pack was 750 and the chicken would take up the whole space in the takeaway. well, the rice wasn't much but it was always enough for someone like me who doesn't eat much. My sister loved it because she could use the chicken to drink Groceries( cassava flakes ) If you know what I mean hahaha.
So guys there you have it, the cheapest food I've ever eaten from a restaurant versus the most expensive one that almost gave me a heart attack hahaha.
Up until now, whenever I remember that event, I always think about my money
Thanks for reading❤
Very funny story... it's really not good to spend above ones means, God would provide for us to eat what we want, when we want it without having to think too much about cost. Lovely read 😌.
I know right😆
Amen!!
Thanks dear❤
Meya 😂😂😂 Thank God you had money, you would have washed plates in this Nigeria😂😂
Chicken Republic is one cheap restaurant, they are really trying.
Yes oo my dear😂, who knows, maybe by now my face would've been up on linda-ikeji blog. Title:sabi girl went to order food without any money, and she ended up washing plates and chopping small beating 😂
Yes they are trying, no jokes!
I'm thinking of how your face was that day and I'm laughing so hard right now.😂😂
I tell you it's not easy oo, in just one sitting spending 7k is not easy.
I only do things like this when I want to spoil myself to the extreme and that's just once in a while lols.
🤣 thank God you had the money.
7k is too much to spend on a single meal now, maybe when we grow and have a better job we will do that.
I also frequent the Chicken Republic on my side, they are student-friendly.
It's just too much for now my dear😂😂.
Yeah🥂
