Make Overs & Party After Party

I saw the topic for the #Kiss initiative and I couldn't pass on it as it has a lot to do with my thoughts about some certain acts that is becoming a norm or has become a norm. I feel I'd have more to say about the direction I'm taking this topic because I am guilty of it and this might just be another way of reminding myself of what I have always believed and how much comfort I get from sticking to kg belief.

You do make overs? It's cool
You celebrate a happy memory? That is amazing and just feels right!

But what I don't get is how we somehow go the extreme on these things. There are a lot other areas people go the extreme but my focus is on this two that affects me especially the make overs. The image below is a picture of myself on one of my past birthdays, I did a make over, got new wears and felt really good and happy on my special day.

But one thing I couldn't get comfortable with was how excess and uncomfortable the whole make over stuff was on my face.

I'm not against make overs at all, I find it fascinating sometimes actually but I feel there has to be a way to have make overs and make it scream make overs. This might sound odd but it is just what I feel about it. I could give a count of the number of times I've had to do a make over for a special occasion but I can't give count of the times I've begged for a simple make over but end up cleaning it away when I feel it is too excess.

A recent Tiktok video I saw, an old lady maybe around the age 70 had a make over session and she was transformed to a young lady with the help of lots of make over stuffs. I was both surprised and disappointed, I don't know why but I felt it was all a lie and the fact that she was spending lots of money to get that done on her face is also what I call extreme.

I mean, we must first of all believe we are beautiful no matter how we look in the eyes of others. It's hard but self acceptance plays a big role in limiting how far we go with things like this. Thanks to more better ways of make overs, I could find simple make overs that doesn't take away who we really are but instead, makes us appreciate our real faces when they are off.

About celebrating a happy memory? I think it's very much expected as we do feel like we owe that to the one who made it possible or it needs to be celebrated for it to be in our memory for a long time but what is it called when you have a party to celebrate a party?

I wouldn't have much issues with the wealthy ones doing such but surprisingly, the wealthy ones aren't the ones engaging in this excessive partying. The ones who don't have much are the ones partying after party. I get that they are trying to be happy and mark or make memories but why the party to celebrate what they have celebrated 😂

It's funny sometimes when I think about the possibility of people planning out an occasion to celebrate an occasion that has past. They give it different names to justify them wasting away money. But then, these parties are like life savers to people who only get to eat nice meals when they are invited to such parties so it isn't a total waste.

But it is something I wouldn't do as I've always believed that being grateful or marking memories could be done even without all that. Have fun but don't do beyond your capability even when you feel it's okay, there are more better things to spend it on.

This is just my thought, I'd appreciate your own view on these things too.

An interesting read, tho I don't have too much to share on the topic. Besides, I guess.. that I wish people didn't care as much what other people thought - in terms of how they look. Though that speaks of society at large. Of course, it is nice to look good, yes.. but it's not so much the 'doing up', as it is the need to be 'showing off' which I find bothersome.

#dreemerforlife beemed down from #dreemport - to this #dreemer curated post :)

Yeah, that is just it
People want to show off and too much of it.

There's no wrong in celebrating special moment but not with a lie just like the old woman you mentioned. She looks good but then... Smh😂😂.

Like you rightly mentioned - the benefit of it all is the people who get to have a meal on those days as they are rarely able to feed and that is the celebration that pleases my heart.
Not the sweat contest in a stuffed room or space of uncomfortable people termed as a fun party. Those too have their pecks/good sides though I like what I like.

Please the make overs are too much. Tiktok has made me realise that makeup is a god on its own. Like the transformations I see is just so mind-blowing and I'm like, what exactly is going on. But it's just how things are going and I'm afraid but it would only get worse.

It definitely will get worse and its expected but I just hope some people find simplicity in the midst of all this. Not everyone would be able to flow with the worse yet to come.

I am not against the celebration of special moments but It really surprised me when I saw people use almost all the money of the month to make one moment special and they need to suffer for it the whole month. I think it's useless if they need to suffer for it.

My thought exactly, having the future in mind when you spend isn't wrong to celebrate a special moment.

I like my stuff simple, but if people like glamour and can afford it, I love it for them. These celebrations mean a lot to people and I've learnt to respect traditions and beliefs. Like you said, the celebrations are lifesavers to some.

That's right, no arguments there 😅
To every person, their own style and beliefs

Let me tell you a 20worded story about excess make up...

We had a end of year party in school and as teachers, we dressed well apart from me that joined them from a 'jungled assignment'

When we closed, I couldn't close my mouth on one of the ladies that was putting on excess make up that changed her face.

She pissed off and stopped greeting me and this lasted for two months.

Ever since then, I don't say bad to a bad make up
