Poem: Glass

Image generated by me using BingAI

In our baby's eyes, when we look in the glass,
We see a reflection of who we aren't, but who we wish to be .
A man of wealth, of strength and of great pride,
Yet inside, that little child still resides.

When the years pass, and we all grow up,
We look into the mirror and it doesn't show who we'd wished to be
We reflect on the past,
We wonder if the future is cast.

We've grown old, and we know our worth,
But the mirror still shows a different birth.
Is our childish reflection no longer true?,
Is it the journey's end, a new life, or do dreams don't come true?

Now as grown-ups, when we stand and looks in the glass,
We see no child, no child at last.
For we now stare at our true reflection,
A life you have to fight to get the attention

With our baby's eyes, no longer there,
Now replaced with wisdom, bravery, and fear.
You work before you eat of your life's work
Is all that the glass shows, does life suck?

The journey from childhood to adulthood is a bittersweet one, isn't? Our dreams and goals don't often turn out the way we want them to. Your poem is though-provoking, portraying the reality of adulthood and pursuit of fulfilment. But first, maturity must take place! A poignant piece.

Thank you for posting your poem in the Scholar N Scribe community. We have an ongoing contest and invite you to participate. !PIZZA 🙂
