ChatGPT Tutorial: Writing Professional Emails

Hello everyone!

As I've already made clear in the past few months, I'm very excited about the possibilities of using Artificial Intelligence to do some of the boring bureaucracy stuff on my daily life.

One thing that I kinda hate is having to write formal, professional e-mails to people in my workplace, as those messages are usually full of chit-chat that doesn't really go to the point. But if you just ignore the bullshit and write what you actually want to mean, people start thinking that you're rude and ill-mannered.

So I've started using ChatGPT to draft e-mails for me!

The prompt I'm using is this:

I am "my role" that works "my workplace".

Draft an email to "receiver" to inform him that "explain the situation for ChaTGPT"

Highlight that "important stuff that you want to be sure that ChatGPT puts in your e-mail"

Use a friendly tone in the email.

The e-mail should be short and concise.

It's a quite simple prompt, but it allows some customization (so you can use it as an intern working in the local shop, or as a director in a Fortune500 company). Also, the last two commands are there in order to avoid ChatGPT creating super-long messages (that are usually bad for business communication) or going all over the place with "marketing" tone (as people usually use chatgpt to generate marketing stuff, sales, etc.).

The fun part of this prompt is that you can be bluntly honest with ChatGPT, saying stuff like "we're paying shitty wages so all the employees are quitting!", and it'll rewrite this highly-unprofessional phrase to something way more formal and acceptable like "Due to our limited ability to offer competitive wages, we have experienced an exodus of staff members seeking better opportunities elsewhere"!

Honestly, it's funny.
