Price Hike And Inflation Effect.

I didn't have the intention of returning home after school; my plan was to go to Lagos and hustle for some time before my NYSC program, but after thinking about it thoroughly, I doubt if I will last a month in Lagos without support from my family, and it will be unreasonable for me to start disturbing them to support my life again while trying to make money in Lagos.

I left school with my things and went back home, which was a wise decision because a few months after I returned home, the prices of goods started increasing. It was terrible to the extent that when you buy a product in the morning, you can't get that product for the same price the next day. There will definitely be an increase.

The inflation is a huge setback for many people in the country, and I am not exempt. With the hike in the price of things, a lot of salary earners didn't get an increase, and they have to manage with what they have, which can never be enough for them, especially those who have families. My dad was listening to a radio program one morning, and I was moved to tears while listening to how Nigerians were complaining.

A man said that for the first time in his life, he watched his kids sleep on empty stomachs, and while he was speaking, he burst into tears. The thing got me really emotional, and I wish I could help, but things are not easy on my end as well.

My parents are the type that don't take from me, and even if I insist, they always find a reason to reject my money.

"You have personal things to sort out too, so use your money for those things." That's what I hear a lot of the time from my dad or mom, but with the situation, I can't allow them to continue struggling because of the inflation. Whenever I make little money from my baking or my boss tips me, I don't hesitate to get some food, and for that reason, I can barely save any money for myself.

I hear my dad complain whenever we run out of things, and I feel bad because he is not that man who wants to see his family lack anything. The inflation is affecting me and my family a lot, and I hope things return to normal before things get out of hand.

Before the inflation, we always bought foodstuffs for about 70 thousand naira monthly, but that same money can barely last us for two weeks now just because things are really expensive. Rice, fish, beef, groundnut oil, and many other food items are so expensive that we can't even eat them as we want.

I have a soap I use because of my skin, and it's almost unaffordable at the moment. My deodorants are now too expensive, and I gently use them to prevent running out of them too soon.

Things like this are inevitable; there will be times like this, and we just have to cope because there are better days ahead.
