AFRITUNES CHRISTMAS EVENT | We Three Kings (Africanized Version)
Welcome to Afri-tunes Community.
This week is our Special Christmas Event on Hive and in the Community. By this event, we commemorate the Nativity of Christ whose birth was necessary for our redemption and salvation.
This week also doubles as Afri-tunes week 41. In other words, the Afri-tunes Project has been on Hive for 41 weeks (9 - 10 months) and we are not ready to retreat nor surrender. With the grace of God, participations from our loving Community members and support from the larger Hive Community we'll keep going higher and higher.
I had plans to present an Igbo Christmas song with a friend of mine. I wanted to play the Keyboard while he sings. But the plan didn't work out again and we weren't able to meet also. So I had to look into something else to present to our beautiful community. The time was too short for a learner like me to sing, so I decided to play my jinta (guitar).
I decided to choose a popular English Christmas song and I Africanized it... hehe, let me borrow the word from the great @magicfingerz. In other words, I recreated an African beat as an instrumental to vibe with the song.
The song, We Three Kings of Orient Are, speaks about the Wise Men from the East who brought gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to present to Jesus when He was born, as recorded in Matthew 2:11.
It speaks about how they followed the bright shining star to behold the presence of the new born King; a King greater than all.
Remember that during this period there were no cars, no aeroplanes and no modern means of transportation. Aside the use of Legedise Benz (trekking with the Leg) the only available means of transportation was the use of Donkeys (which was obviously slow). Hence, you can imagine how long they spent for their journey.
The lyrics also speaks of the three wonderful gifts given to Jesus and how they relate to his life and ministry on Earth: Gold relates to his kingship - yes, he was born a King in the lowliest place (manger) yet his kingdom is eternal; Frankincense relates to his Priesthood - He is the High Priest in whom we share in His priesthood as a chosen race; and Myrrh signifies his death.
A very beautiful song with an amazing lyrics.
Well, for this event I'd add this African beat I recreated and I hope you vibe well to this...

I've never heard this song though. But I like the whole vibes, I feel that I might even get to even appreciate it the more, if I heard the original version. But the African thing to it was a perfect touch. You sure know how to improvise instrumentals.
The original version is slower, solemn and cooler. I just did a bit of gymnastics with the African Vibes attached 😂 I added the YouTube video of the song sung by a Choir. The original version is something like that.
