This Job ain't for me! Their money can burn.
I've learned that if you go into a job that you find to be detestable, you will have a very miserable experience in every moment you spend on that job. That's not even the worst. The worst side of this is that you will end up making those around you miserable because you will hardly give your best and this will in turn lead to some sort of animosity between you and those you work with.
If this is the case, then, it's pretty obvious that every one of us will be prioritizing working on a job that whets our appetite and suits our passion. That should be a no-brainer, but how many people enjoy the work they are doing? Only a few! We all know that money must be made and if that money has to be made doing something we genuinely detest, a whole lot of people will gladly take up the job.
Think about that for a minute...
When I talk about jobs and tell people that I said goodbye to the Banking sector despite having an opportunity to receive a monthly paycheck from there, a lot of people think I'm being hyperbolic. But that's not the case. Of course, I enjoyed being on the job while I was there and I enjoyed getting those monthly paychecks, but I was quite futuristic and I didn't have being a Banker on my bingo card.
Now, let's address the main question in this discussion;
Is there a job I will never do regardless of the attractiveness of the paycheck?
I wish money was never an issue. Once money is no longer a problem, there will be so many jobs I wouldn't even look at and you would be surprised that jobs you count as A-List jobs are on my list. However, since money is a big incentive and I've already become accustomed to breaking myself in half to make money, the list of jobs I wouldn't do even when a huge pay is on the line has drastically reduced to 1.
Just one... Police.
This is quite ironic because part of the things I would love to do if I had the resources is forensic science and crime scene investigation. I hope to do that in the most scientific way possible and I know part of the job of the Police is to do thorough crime scene investigation.
However, I'm in Nigeria and I can't boast of the investigation procedure visible in our Police Force. Besides, the reputation of the entire Police is already dragged through the mud and their members are shamelessly heading down an incorrigible path. I don't have a lot of good experience with the Police and I'm a model citizen. Haha. However, HERE IS one of many posts which I've written about terrible incidents involving our Police.
I just don't see the amount of money, chances of promotion and promise of job security that will make me enrol to wear the badge of the Nigerian Police Force. I know that sh*t happens in life, but I wouldn't want to experience any happenstances that will force my hand and make me get into our Police Force.
The mere thought of it is making me cringe like crazy.

I can't even be proud of the uniform
That's exactly how people react to the Police. So many people have been manhandled by the Police so it's always hard to see someone that generally have good things to say about them.

It would suprise anyone to know that you quit a banking job because a lot of people are doing the unbelievable just to get a bank job. We seek more than just money and a lot thing including our mental health has to be considered.
Working as a police wouldn't happen even in my next life. I once had the opportunity but turned it down because I can't see myself in that uniform looking like a beast ready to tear people apart.
Exactly. People will even borrow money and use it to bribe their way into the banking industry. But I've been there and it didn't suit the life I wanted for myself.
As for Police, I'm not sure about the reputation of the Police in other part of the world, but what I know about Nigerian Police makes it really hard to even think of wearing that uniform.

Police, NEPA officials. The amount of abuses sent the way of those two on a daily basis is cringe worthy. Eke, Ekelebe, Olopa, Ojo... They've even gotten the worst of names out their.
No one likes them. My father-in-law told his kids he'll disown anyone of them that takes the police uniform. It's that bad...
These two you mentioned, Police & NEPA, have a very bad reputation and it's been like that for so many years. You would think they will be making more effort to build better reputation after all these years, but the reality is that the institution itself is getting worse by the day.
The two federal institutions have assumed the full time job of ripping the masses off their money, that's why no one trusts them. One has to pay some serious amount just to lodge a case at the police station. NEPA delivers over 30k bill every month for 4 hours of light per day, which is not even certain. That's why I feel no pity for them whenever they jam agbako while trying to oppress the masses.

When I was in high school many years ago I thought I would like to be a police detective when "I grew up". I have a deep respect for law enforcement. But I didn't follow that path. Only because I thought it was just a daydream that made no sense for me. I don't ever want a job working for someone else again. I have gotten very used to not having a job and working on building my own online business.

the idea of not wanting to work for someone is one of the major reason I left the banking system. Thankfully, I found opportunities online and I'm building stuff for the future. I feel happier about my current activities than the things I did when I was working in a bank.

It's still essential to earn money without having several burnouts, specifically concerning our career! Your decision to leave the banking sector can be a courageous move. It was my major when I was in my first year, but I decided to shift without being irregular because I don't find it rewarding. It feels unworthy unless I'm in the other country!
That's true. We spend a huge chunk of our life building our career. So, it's not really worth it to be on a job that doesn't really align with our passion
Sadly, so many people are doing jobs like that in order to survival.

I hate police and I feel most of the police are bad and corrupted now. I feel the police are not doing their responsibility and rather than protecting general people they are against general people. I won't do the job of police even if it gives me a high salary because I can't be shameless like the police.
