The Plot Thickens in "The Worst of Evil".

The gang world is no joke and I thoroughly advise folks to keep a safe distance from that side of things in real life. However, I have a completely different approach to this if it's in a Movie. Haha. I'm a real sucker for gangster movies, especially the ones that are juicy and spicy.

In this movie and TV show review, I will be bringing a crime-based Kdrama to the spotlight. It's a Kdrama that was recently released and tells the story of the gang culture in the 1990s.

Let's get into the profile of the show;

Drama: The Worst Of Evil

Genre: Action, Thriller, Mystery, Crime

Network: Disney+

Episodes: 12

Release Date: Sept 27 - October 25, 2023

Disney+, yet again, found a way to get into a Kdrama project and this particular one was a successful investment for them. The casting of the show and the 12 episodes make the story tight, well paced, and with no dull moment. The characterisation is also interesting and the casting may well be the best part of the show.

What's "The Worst of Evil" all about?

The show tells the story of ambitious crime organizations across South Korea, China, and Japan, who worked together to form a drug trafficking chain that went rampant across the three countries. The drug that caught people's attention at that moment was nicked "Gangnam Crystal" and the organization that supplied it in Korea tried to do things on a low-key. This made it hard for any solid intel about their operation to get leaked.

All attempts to get solid info proved futile across the countries involved. So, the Police decided to play a more radical hand by planting a spy in the organization. The perfect man picked for the Job happens to be a Policeman in the local province and he was offered to infiltrate the gang world on this interesting undercover mission.

The Policeman had a lot of reasons to take up the risky offer. He is getting into a risky mission which can also put his family at risk. However, he had his eyes on the other side of things. He jumped in and had to go through the tough job of gaining trust, getting intel, doing dirty gangster business, and breaking trust along the line.

The young man was doing just fine while walking on the thin line between a gangster/Police until his wife who's a higher-ranked Police official also got introduced to that same undercover mission without any prior notice. That's a husband and wife in the same undercover mission. Yeah! The plot thickens from there on.

The above video is a trailer of the show.

I added this show to my watchlist because the storyline looked interesting and the casting is pumped with folks who know their onion in the industry and give 100% when playing a role. What I genuinely didn't expect was how good this would turn out to be. Seriously, from the very first episode, I got hooked on the story and as we took a deeper dive into more episodes, the plot became thickened. This sure isn't a typical undercover TV show. It's a lot more.

The show also did a really good job of testing the viewer's moral compass regarding what counts as cheating in relationships. For example, the lead character who went undercover into the crime world also had to watch his wife get into the undercover world and try to seduce the crime Boss into a relationship. For the record, it started with the intention of making sure that her husband was safe. However, things became messy, and distrust grew between the Couple.

This show is legit. I'm not even kidding.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
