Liverpool 1 - 0 Brentford; It was another big 3 points for the Redmen.

Just because Liverpool started this season poorly, we are now in a situation where we need victory after victory even it it's just for a bragging right. The sad irony about this is that we may win every game that is left for the season, but it still won't be enough for us to qualify for next season's Champions League. Except if Manchester United bottles their next couple of games. Who knows?

The game we just played with Brentford was a tough test. Brentford has proven to be powerful opponents this season and they came with their A-game. I didn't particularly like the fact that they were throwing themselves to the ground whenever the wind blows. That bit was embarrassing to watch.

Aside from that, I think Brentford did a really good job. They didn't just sit back in their half. They had a sense of urgency whenever they were pressing for balls and I think they did a really good job of breaking into Liverpool's defence. They just couldn't get it right in their finishes.

Here is the events stats that shows how the game unfolded;

While this doesn't give a full picture of what happened during the game, the number of bookings in that game showed that Liverpool had to put up a gritty performance. We had some horrible misses and this wouldn't have been such a tough game if we got it right with our finishes, but that wasn't the case.

Still, we can't make bones about anything. A win is all we need for what's left of the season. Today's win came courtesy of Mo Salah, the Egyptian lad. He has been in very good form since last month and he has managed to give us the maximum points in our last two games. That's the Mo we love to see every game week.

Aside from the players, It seems obvious to me that Anthony Taylor (the referee) had a terrific game. His calls were very infuriating and he made it easier for the Brentford folks to go to sleep whenever they feel a little contact.

Special mention goes to our Brazilian shot-stopper. Alisson got his 100th clean sheet in a Liverpool shirt today. That's awesome. It would be amazing to see him win the Golden Glove by the end of the season.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma

Exactly. Liverpool's top 4 qualification still has a lot to do with Manchester United's performance, but we need to win the rest of our games before we can hope for Manchester United to slip.
