Self-control can make your business thrive

Every business owner needs to master the act of self-control. If as a business owner you cannot control your mind and emotions, you may end up loosing everything you have worked for in your business. Business indeed is not for the fainthearted. So you need to be mentally and emotionally strong if you want to continue staying in business.

Having self-control means a whole lot of things which I will discuss some of those things in this article. It is also important to understand that if you can manage these things effectively, then you are building a solid foundation for your business to thrive now and in the future.

First is having the ability to control your emotions. As a business owner, be rest assured that customers will drain you emotionally. I have a friend who almost beat up a customer because the customer pissed her off to her veins. Yes that's how much a customer will piss you off. Sometimes a customer will shout, insult and even threaten you. Your ability to control your emotions and be calm at that point and think of other smart ways to handle the situation at that point in time will help you in your business.

Controlling your spending habit is another important factor to consider as a business owner. My mum will always say that beautiful things will not finish in the market. So relax and do what is important first. Some business owners cannot control their spending habit to the point that they even use their business money to buy and buy. Everything they see, they want to buy. How can your business still function when you have used your profit and even your capital to buy and buy things that are not necessary for you. You see shoe, you buy. You see cloth, you buy. You forget that your business money should be your business money and should not the touched for anything asides your business.

So many business owners use what they sell a lot. This is a No No for me. How can you buy products for sale and use 90% of those products for yourself? So why are you even in business? It is okay to wear at least one or two for sampling purposes but using 90% of it is out of it and should not even be done. You eat from your shop 24/7. If you like your product, please have that self-control to buy and pay yourself for the product. That way you ensure that you don't have losses.

Here you go, these are my little cents on what a business owner should and should not do to make his or her business thrive. Having self-control as a business owner is just like a foundation in a building. If your foundation is wrong, the house will fall. So you need to learn how to manage your emotions and control yourself if you want to stay in business for decades.
