What's Your Upvote Really Worth?
Every Saturday night, I do a little piece of content called #MyHiveGoals
At the beginning of each year, I lay out my goals that I want to reach by the end of the calendar year...And then every Saturday night throughout the year, I post my progress.
This got me thinking about some of those goals and how I can break them down even more. One of the areas I'm always trying to improve is my curation rewards. I see these whales making a small fortune every day just by distributing the tokens out so....

Most people here on the blockchain still think in 'fiat' terms.
One BTC is worth...X amount of US dollars.
One Hive is worth around 40 cents at the time of writing.
And I get it, we all need to eat. And still, the world revolves around money and that's what we are always looking at...Can my effort here, pay the bills down the road?
One of the unique aspects of Hive is how the rewards are given out in the form of upvotes / distribution of the rewards pool daily. And depending on how much Hive / LEO / CTP power I may have staked, ends up determining how much of that rewards pool I can 'give out' with an upvote.
I see some cool stuff, I'm on @peakd and I give it a 100% vote....
So right now, my 100% upvote is worth around 78 cents. For the sake of this example, let's round it up and say 80 cents US....
Now I'm thinking in 'fiat' terms here. What is that Hive equivalent vote?

Every time I give someone of the community a full upvote I'm essentially giving them 1 Hive and pocketing 1 Hive for myself. That alone blows my mind every single time I think about it. But what's even better if you believe like most of us do....
That 1 Hive is going to be worth a LOT more down the road!
Same goes for LEO....
What I like about @leofinance is that they give us the LEO vote every time we curate. So at 100% I'm giving this creator 0.65 LEO and sending 0.65 back to yours truly. And yeah, that's around 2.5 cents each at current trading value, but I am very bullish on Leo long term and know this token can hit $1 or higher!
What about the token that could?
A full vote is worth 21.535 CTP so that means 10.77 goes to the creator and 10.77 comes back to me!
Again, I'm not trying to think of the 'fiat' value for each of these tokens, my mindset is accumulation and stacking as much as I can for the future.
These are little goals I now try to target now on my approach to stacking these tokens...
How can I get my Hive vote to be worth....3 Hive each? Stack more!
What about LEO? I'd love to give out 5 LEO per vote...Power more up!
CTP? 21 is so...2 years ago, let's shoot for 30 CTP per full vote...Grow the account!
Because remember, on this blockchain....Every time you upvote something, you get 50% of that vote's value, back in your account when the rewards are paid out. Curation gets that much more exciting when you think about growing your upvote to help distribute these tokens to more amazing members of the community!

It's a fantastic gift and still one of the best ways to mine a Crypto where engagement is key. Even better the other cryptos that can also be mined through engagement being Leo which has doubled and was sitting at 11c from 5c the other week.

It takes time, but it can happen. I'm hardly anything special on chain, but I managed to do it slowly but surely. No massive investment of fiat either, just showed up daily for years.

This is what I keep saying to people. Stack those tokens! Don't get caught up in the price swings of the moment, but keep that future value always front and center as you curate and accmulate. The future is bright. The future is $HIVE

What you're describing, the impact of voting power, is also the reason I want to try to encourage comments and Threads as a form of engagement. I came up with some ideas for how to do this in a way that still leaves a positive impact: 1 2
While the FC Community account is still tiny in terms of the HP and LP it can give and produce with a vote, once people notice what they can earn simply by posting short-form comments/Threads and linking it to a common theme or community, this can greatly increase actual engagement within communities, and make them come alive! This is what will transform Hive into a true form of interactive social media, in addition to everything else that it can be.
lol I've been beating my head against the desk trying to get some in my community to step up and comment more. i'll check out the posts for sure.

It's a legitimate challenge because votes are pretty limited (they're used for posts and comments), and posts have more visibility, a higher likelihood of giving higher curation returns, and are easier to automate, so it makes sense that they'd be the primary recipients of votes. Switching some weight over to comments would help a lot!

I think as long as the Hive price stays below 1 dollar it would be a time for accumulation. Because once it passes dollar value, it would be costly. So it's time to accumulate and power up and even delegate during this phase. By the way what's your opinion on silvergate and SVB down?

Also remember that upvoting uses resource credits, so you need to counterbalance it with a good supply of HP to recharge your resource credits as fast as you are upvoting.
Yeah the time it takes doesn't change regardless of how much HP you have but the more HP, you can spread your votes out much more. So smaller votes more often, so many cool ways to distribute the tokens.

Oh had that wrong, ok. I thought there was a correlation in that way. Well, I'm at about 12 hours now, so maybe a few more upvotes and go to bed. Going through the feeds.
Is there any way or formula to calculate curation rewards, like on monthly basis. I want to compare it with savings 🤔🤗🤗
The best tool I use is HiveStats.io by @leofinance It's a fantastic service.

This is excellent report, i love goals when it win win. Hive is too much. Growing the account is the first step. Thinking how much fiat the token is now is a set back. Growing, stack more, power up more is the deal.

Hive is great and I really like the system of splitting the rewards towards authors and curators. It incentivizes people to be active and engage more with others. If we keep building, the value our upvote will also go up in time too.

last month I drew $250 - Around R4500 to pay for expenses that were unplanned and undodgeable. As the ecenomy struggles here, I work on Hive and plug the holes and survive better.

It is nice to be double dipping like that. I think there will come a time when the second layer tokens will really start to come into their own. We saw it a little bit back when Hive was close to $3, but when HIVE finally finds a floor around $1 or $2 (which I believe will happen), it is going to be nuts. Just wait and watch your H-E wallet swell to five or six figures!
That's crazy to think about lol We dove into WORKERBEE just for that potential, as it's the governance token for H-E. Thinking of a time when these layer 2's become a force unto themselves, because I know it'll happen.

That is cool. I have some of those I think. I am working on building up my BXT stack right now even though it doesn't pay out as much Hive per day as it was. I ended up pooling a bunch of mine to try and earn some more.

Bigger votes out is literally the single reason I continue to stack without taking any profit from Hive.
In the fiction writing side of Hive, there are a lot of great posts that don't get anywhere near the rewards they should... so while it's like 25c right now for my full vote, I try to ensure that I'm doing what I can (and, of course, building that base up!)
Yeah there are so many unique communities. 25 c is awesome! That's a very nice vote and just grows and grow over time. That's what I did the first 4 years here, I never took a penny out. Just continued to grow the account.
