Noise Cash Is Dead..Noise App Is Alive?

A few years ago, the amazing community in @leofinance let the blockchain know about this 'micro-blogging' site that used crypto currency to reward it's users. This was at the height of the excitement for 'Project Blank', and people were drooling for a Twitter alternative in the crypto space.

Noise.Cash seemed to check off a lot of what we were all looking for. The project was backed by some whales in the BCH community and seemed to have one mission...Raise awareness for BCH lol

It worked, kinda.....

But it ran into a lot of issues with spam, low engagement and of course activity came and went depending on the price of crypto as a whole. Essentially, the project seemed to be abandoned and just recently (thanks to @achim03) I stumbled across....

Noise.App

WTH? lol

It seems to be created by the same team behind Noise.Cash but it's literally a brand new site. Those thousands of followers I generated and attracted on Noise...All gone! If you re-join the site, you will be starting off back at square one.

The 'rewards pool' is gone as far as I can see, as their tipping and rewards now comes from person to person donations. But I have a sneaky suspicion it's still being funded by the BCH whales and the algorithm goes like this...

Be active. Get tipped!

O.K. so is it even worth it to join again?

It depends!

For me, I am bullish on all things crypto. And the less traditional social media I use for my day to day business enddeavors, the better.

However, I'm on the fence when it comes to how much I'll 'promote it and use it' but I do plan on poking around again.

And here's a cool little trick I learned from @achim03 again, to help exchange all those BCH tips you get, into some juicy Hive tokens...

(I'm not getting rich, but this is the second day I've been using Noise and have earned a few extra Hive from the tips!)

Step 1 - Join Noise.App

This isn't a referral link, because there is none. But the way they are 'stopping spam' is to make this by invite only. So if you would like to join, grab an account by using this link or ask anyone who joined Noise and they can provide it for you!

Step 2 - Add A BCH Wallet Address w/ Blocktrades

To get rewarded, you have your choice of crypto to receive. Let's be brutally honest here, this is a BCH focused platform, so use BCH as much as you can there. But the trick is to use a BCH address via @blocktrades

Then click on 'Settings' inside your Noise app to add your BCH donation address:

Step 3 - Be Active!

This is again their way to stop spam, as you have to be friends with a follower to comment. Which is a blessing and a curse if you ask me. So the way to do this, is to 'like' more people's stuff on the platform and cross your fingers that they start following you back lol

It's a very weird way to do things but hopefully Noise figures their onboarding out and makes it easier for people to engage with each other. This platform is useless to people who just join things and do nothing, to get any value you must engage and be active on it.

Will it be a hit?

Who knows....I love the clean look and feel of Noise, I always have. The best test is if the team behind the platform, continues to grow it and not leave it to the dust like Noise.Cash.

It's crazy how secretive it was done. I'm actully super curious what happened on the backend lol. Anyways dropped ya a follow back so we can start to comment and interact more. Cool trick on converting BCH to hive I actully might do that. I've simply been dumping it into a hardware wallet for safe keeping.

I definitely lapsed on noise.cash but enjoyed the back and forth with some great people over there. I am not a natural at social media, so am on the fence about adding the new version.

But I have a question about Blocktrades. It seems like it is now requiring a version of KYC to use. At least it wanted to verify my identity last time I tried to use it about a week ago. Did I just get a random bad luck event or is this the new standard approach?

Have we interacted in noise.cash before? I personally feel sad about its nearing end but I'm still thankful because they created noise app, meaning we won't lose our accounts. We just have to transfer them. I love noise.cash so much.

I am wondering if they really took anything away from noise.cash and I don't really know if I like the entire idea of requiring people to be following each other to engage. Sometimes, you just want to debate a specific point or question and there isn't really a reason that this would help much. Sure, you might be able to cut down a small amount of spam but it makes it less attractive as a social media.

I think the only thing that killed BCH and noisecash is the relying on that scam coin called SmartBCH. Its pity the community was taken for a ride with that SmartBCH rug pull. I find new noiseapp less sustainable. But then again let's see how long that circus continues. Excellent trick of the blocktrades. I'll try that one out. :)

They literally, left the project and never did a thing with it. I never messed with smartbch though, didn't even know it was an issue.

I think that this new product will eventually fail as well, but I’m playing to get a nice amount of bch before it does 😉

It is so weird that a project that wants to promote a decentralized blockchain tries to get as much centralized power as possible over their version of a crypto Twitter app.

Such a different approach compared to the leofinance team’s approach

I think it's the fact they can't build a proof of brain / proof of stake platform on BCH like we have here. So they need to have a centralized platform to 'brand ' BCH with it, cause BCH can't do what Hive does.

True and it is hard to get a community to the point where good content is rewarded and spammers are downvoted.

I think they would have more succes if they have the community the ability to adjust rewards.

It's a really tough pill to swallow, after working your way up on the previous platform you have to start more or less from scratch on this new platform. But it seems like the team are prepared to make it better by putting in some mechanisms in place. I'll definitely give it a try lol.

Sucks. I saw the writing on the wall a few months after I joined the last site but kept going. This one doesnt require as much input from the owners though, which is a good thing. But still wanna see lots of dev. on it.

Noise.Cash was OK for a while. Especially when I was getting lots of free tips. I'd tip people a whole dollar, something I've yet to be able to do here on HIVE, but in the end it's a centralized waste of time. When are we going to get a HIVE version? We could call it Dent. Like put a dent in the system. Sorry, but project Blank sounds lame. Maybe the tech is going to work, but the name sucks.

AFAIK, Noise.Cash was an experiment from team "Beta Version to Full Upgraded" in the last Bull run and ever since they stopped adding more features on that but still we're rewarding continuously

But then Coz of They had planned to go with Noise.app to make things better than before the old one is slowly comes to an end.

And also Simon (Noise.app Lead dev) said Noise.app is Read only so it's not possible to start from where we left in Noise.cash but still only 20% of development done on the platform rest of 80% are yet being worked on or will come out so let's see where it will Go.

Noisecash is still online for me. I've been mostly inactive as I became more and more involved here, but I still have some awesome friends there... I'm hoping they'll make it here, or to the new version of Noise!

Interesting "re-birth" I have to admit, but I must also confess that the original Noise Cash never really held my attention; it always stank a little too much of being a "promote BCH" gig first, and any kind of useful social app second. Not that there is anything fundamentally wrong with that... but it did create a bit of the same dynamic that was always associated with Hive and its predecessor: "This is just TOO COMPLICATED!"

So — and this is just my opinion, of course — that leaves it looking like a venue to "milk" for a dedicated group of core users, but with little potential for real long term growth.

I most definitely didnt feel welcomed over there if I mentioned Hive at all lol But I don't get that feel with the new project. Just because I think they learned their lesson and if they wanna make a crypto social media, all crypto should be allowed to be discussed over there.

How would this work for people without a Blocktrades account or wallet? KYC was instituted this month, and for many people that's a deal-breaker.

Maybe an alternative is to send BCH to Hive Engine in exchange for SWAP.BCH and then SWAP.HIVE before withdrawing it for HIVE.

Noise cash was really my most favorite and truly spammers came massively and little wonder this noise app though I have joined it but I have not been active but my energy I will give them a fraction. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so reluctant to try this one. Given the huge crap noise.cash has become, and not a single word from devs, can't say that seeing the same stuff with a different wrapping from the same team makes me eager to join. But do keep seeing more and more people joining, and even saw some saying the free tipping seems to have returned. Is it just rumour? And how are you liking the interface?

Loving the interface, I think they are fantastic for keeping apps simple and easy to use. That's my biggest worry too, they will just up and leave. But this doesn't rely so much on the 'free tips' as it's more generated by the users. No proof of brain like here, but still a super slick app that's easy to use. Tips have been coming in for me as well from the members regularly. Who knows how long it'll last lol

It always shocks me to hear that even people heavily involved in the crypto space, think that just by rewarding content in crypto, that they're a true Web3 social media platform.

As such, it's our duty on Hive to help educate those about who owns your account, where the money comes from and why its not censorship-resistant.

For what it is, Noise Cash is certainly cool.

Earn some extra crypto from your social media activity - I mean who am I to turn down free cashola ;)

But Noise ticks none of those boxes and is certainly not a true Web3 social platform.

I'm a pioneer there, and I'm loving the platform. Noise.cash seems gone (not literally) because a new one was born...
So far, our suspicion regarding tipping is right. And yes, the only way to get more rewards is to be active..

We are looking forward to seeing more updates. And hopefully, this time, this project would succeed.
