Evergreen Thoughts

I've heard the term 'evergreen' for years now. I also remember the time I first heard it used in a business context. About 15 years ago or so, I used to do the 'circuit' in internet marketing.

What is that exactly?

Essentially I would attend pretty much every major internet marketing conference that I could. It took me all over America and even on a cruise ship once. Back then, these events were how you 'made it' in online business.

Who you know....Not always what you know ;)

Anyways, long story short the term 'evergreen' started popping up in these events as a new way to market certain online tools.

They were branded as evergreen marketing tools because they never went out of style. Back then, the industry was ripe with every scheme and scam you could imagine, so marketers that had some ethics (there were a few contrary to popular belief) started to promote these evergreen marketing tools with the end goal of getting people into solid, long lasting affiliate programs.

Things like auto responders, web site hosting, training hubs, analytics tools...These were the creme de la crop of tools that never went out of style! You used these programs as much in 3 years as the day you first joined.

Evergreen!

So when I started hearing $LEO talking about...Evergreen content...My ears perked up. You see, everything I try to do online and with my businesses have always been...Evergreen.

Or at least, that's the goal ;)

Because evergreen doesn't go out of style. It's not a fly by night, get rich quick scheme. It's something that stands the test of time and things that people can be proud to put their names beside it.

That's how I plan to approach my content going forward on $LEO and $HIVE because I want this stuff to have staying power.

In a year from now, I would love for someone to come across my content and get something of value from it. Their time is precious, so I truly hope they get something while they invest their time on my content.

Combine this with how the evergreen content payments are looking like they will work and you can't help but smile from ear to ear.

Evergreen is right up my alley!

It's long term thinking. Long term visions. And more importantly, long term goals.

Now that doesn't mean that every piece of content I put out there will be Picasso level stuff...But there will be times I really dedicate myself to this stuff and plan out the posts.

Not for the potential rewards in the next 7 days...But for the value it will drive to this community and blockchain for the years, if not decades to come.

Let's go create something truly remarkable :)

Evergreen has a value for some niche though. But not for all. I think when you are building the brand then the evergreen content matters.

I remember the evergreen part when I used to write for the hubpages. I used to believe that writing evergreen would make me money lol. Still waiting for that adsense dream income of 100 dollar a day haha. Never made it. I just don't invest into speculative income based options anymore. Glad I am on hive. Atleast I can calculate what I put efforts into.

I have started putting an effort into evergreen which is brand specific and the content that brings value.

I think evergreen content is definitely something that will attract new users. I think attracting people and that will also generate more ad revenue. So putting out a part of that for the author just sounds like a win-win.

I know evergreen rewards will definitely attract me to be more cognizant of what I do and post on chain.

I really hope Leo can find a way to do it...without wrecking the whole train.

It is a bad excuse, but sometimes I feel like the lack of evergreen rewards has somewhat held me back from putting in my best efforts on Hive. Well maybe I should have had more faith and energy.

Time to get cracking and hope it all works out.

It will be interesting to see how it all pans out. I wonder how much of my old Leo stuff will get hit if this happens. I have a feeling it will be pretty low. I think the people that focus on SEO and stuff like that might do well in the long term. I think if I end up having to put that much work into it, it might not be fun anymore.

Yeah I mean, I give about 0% of my time and attention to SEO lol I know some people go ga-ga over it. But I just write lol I think Google likes that organic stuff too :)

How are plans for veews coming along. Is that project still moving forward?

If we can get multiple front ends bringing in revenue for content creators it could lead to a very interesting dynamic for authors.

It's on hold because our developer had to take an extended leave of absence. Sucks because we were so close to really bringing something incredible out. But without a dev, I'm kind of stuck :(

Great content bro. I always thought evergreen meant " you have 1 hours to sign up before its gone" somehting like that. I didn't know it was something that lasted a very long time. Thanks for the correction.

You mention about a year from now you hope you helped at least 1 person with your content. I am that 1 person you helped. I didn't even know about the HBD savings 20% APR until you brought it up to me. Thanks bro.

Thanks Jon @jongolson! You have written great content and I sure do know what Evergreen is about. Did Leo get the term from you? I'm interested and will give a shot at writing longform Leofinance post. Writing has been very difficult for me lately, although it had been something I was good at in the past.
