Splinterlands Brawl Report (24th July 2023) : 3 Wins 0 Losses, and a Guild 1st place finish. I used Quora in all 3 battles!

THGaming Bralwers - another 1st place in Tier 2

Since dropping back down to Tier 2 Brawls in THGaming Brawlers Guild we are getting much higher placings in our Brawls, finishing 1st or 2nd every week. The Card rentals to achieve these high finishes are also a lot less expensive than playing in Tier 2, and there is a bit less pressure on the players. We are still looking for active Splinterlands Brawlers to join us and win some $SPS. @doomz is my 2nd Splinterlands account, which plays Brawls in THGaming 2 Guild, where I managed to get 8 Wins 0 Losses. Not a bad week for me from a personal Brawling perspective!

My Brawl : 3 Wins 0 Losses

My Goldfoil Brawl Performances

This week I was able to win 3 out of 3 Brawls. The competition is a bit easier in Tier 2 but I'm still up against accounts with levelled Gold Summoners and Monsters, so I do rent a number of cards to make myself more competitive.

BRAWL DETAILS : I played BRAWL FREY 13 (Bronze Level GOLD CARDS, all Series allowed). I currently own 108 Gold Cards including 7 Summoners (all Splinters covered), however I rent a number of Cards for Gold Brawls. The Gold card rentals also allow me to be more competitive when playing Wild or Modern league matches.

Reviewing Three Brawl Battles - Frey 13

Most readers don't have time to go through overly detailed posts, so I will summarize my three winning battles below. If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comments.

Jim-Crypto - Brawl Battle Review 1 (Win)

56 Mana - RULESET : Ferocity (Fury)
Summoner Used : OBSIDIAN Goldfoil Level 2
MVP : REGAL PERYTON

In this battle I have 0 rented Goldfoil Cards, all are owned by me :

THE FIGHT : In the first row I used TERRACEOUS HULK (my best Soulbound Reward Card pulled so far) simply to tank as much damage as possible. With the Fury Ruleset doing more damage to TERRACEOUS HULK this was probably not a good move, but luckily my super strong lineup enabled me to still take the victory. I wanted TERRACEOUS HULK's Taunt Ability to draw as much fire as possible, keeping my other Monsters alive, especially QUORA TOWERSHEAD in the middle.

LESSON LEARNT : Even though my opponent used THADDIUS BROOD to nerf magic, my lineup was just too strong for him, and some choice misses against REGAL PERYTON in the front (when his time came) meant my QUORA was not even able to reach the front before finishing my opponent off.

Jim-Crypto - Brawl Battle Review 2 (Win)

21 Mana - RULESET : Noxious Fumes, Weak Magic
Summoner Used : MYLOR CROWLING Goldfoil Level 2
MVP : QUORA TOWERSHEAD

In this battle I have 3 rented Goldfoil Cards, reviewed below :

1. MYLOR CROWLING the Goldfoil Summoner giving all Cards the THORNS ability. I had a feeling my opponent would use a strong Melee attack in this battle and I was right. The Thorns damage didn't end up contributing to the victory, as it was the Noxious Fumes that actually killed my opponent in the end.
2. FAILED SUMMONER was another rental used in this battle, mostly because it costs only 2 mana so was sure to soak up some damage in the front. Having a Magic Reflect card in the front which also as Thorns damage thanks to the Mylor, means that the card works well against Melee and Magic attacks.
3. XENITH MONK is my 3rd rental used in this battle, simply for his self heal ability which would help to heal up against the Noxious Fumes damage. His Goldfoil costs are about $2.50 per BCX, so perhaps this is one Goldfoil Card I need to actually buy. He rents for so cheap (0.5 DEC per day) which is why I haven't taken the plunge and bought his Gold version yet.

THE FIGHT : QUORA TOWERSHEAD and her SELF HEAL ability was able to make it through the Poison damage of Noxious Fumes. I placed her at the back to protect her for as long as possible, also knowing that MYLOR's Thorns buff would damage any SNEAK Monsters in the enemy lineup, however my opponent had no SNEAK Monsters in this round. I also used FUNGUS FLINGER next to QUORA knowing that the MARTYR Ability would boost QUORA's stats as soon as FUNGUS FLINGER died from Poison Damage.

LESSON LEARNT : Strong healers can tank their way through Noxious Fumes, so if you don't have a Monster with IMMUNITY, be sure to have a tank or two with HEAL in your lineup!

Jim-Crypto - Brawl Battle Review 3 (Win)

29 Mana - RULESET : Are you not Entertained?, Born Again, Noxious Fumes
Summoner Used : OBSIDIAN Goldfoil Level 2
MVP : QUORA TOWERSHEAD

In this battle I did not used any Rentals, all Goldfoil cards are owned by me.

THE FIGHT : This was my favourite Brawl battle of the round, as there were some great Rulesets to work with. The Ruleset Noxious Fumes and Born Again allowed me to boost QUORA TOWERSHEAD twice using the Martyr Ability of FUNGUS FLINGER. In fact I wrote a detailed post about using Quora with Martyr cards, so check it out here for more info on this strategy : 'Quora + Martyr, the new 'Llama Kron combo'? Use this lineup to ruin your opponent!'

LESSON LEARNT : Only a very strong SNEAK attack would have killed QUORA at the back of my lineup, and my opponent did not go this route, instead favouring a fairly average EARTH splinter formation. QUORA'S self healing and Martyr boosts proved too powerful for the enemy (she ended up with 19 Health at the end) and it was a fairly easy battle to win. Also, KATRELBA GOBSON was on fire with her double SNEAK hits, and she took the pressure off of Quora quite a lot!

THGAMING Guild Brawl Finishes and Rewards

This Brawl week THGaming Brawlers emerged as our highest placed Guild with a 1st place finish! Below you can see the summarized Guild performances and $SPS winnings.

🏆 THGaming Brawlers (1st place) TIER 2 BRAWLS - The guild has won spoils of 47 Crowns in the latest brawl! Also, each fully participating member was awarded 2,644 Merits and 23.124 staked SPS.

🏆 THGaming 1 (8th place) TIER 2 BRAWLS - The guild has won spoils of 19 Crowns in the latest brawl! Also, each fully participating member was awarded 831 Merits and 9.612 staked SPS.

🏆 THGaming 2 (7th place) TIER 1 BRAWLS - The guild has won spoils of 6 Crowns in the latest brawl! Also, each fully participating member was awarded 277 Merits and 5.368 staked SPS.

I'm sure most of you already know that @splinterlands has made Guild Brawls truly profitable and Guild Brawlers now win staked $SPS Tokens for Brawl participation. The amount of $SPS you earn is dependent on your Guild Tier (Arena level), Guild Participation (how many Freys are filled) and how well you actually finish in the Brawl each week.
