🎉 Scholars and Scribes, there’s an exciting new frontend on Hive!

And we’re going to reward you handsomely for trying it out (info on rewards below 👇).

After years of development, Leo Finance has released the Open Alpha of their “Everything dApp.” It is spearheaded by the microblogging service called Threads.

🐦 Threads is basically Twitter, but on Hive

“But wait,” you might say. “There’s already stuff like dBuzz on Hive.”

This is true. But Threads is a different approach.

  • 🧼 It does not create a new blog post every time you use it (keeping your feed uncluttered)
  • 🚄 It has a beautifully fast and sleek interface
  • ⭐ New features will roll out weekly during this Open Alpha launch
  • 🦁 Supported by one of the strongest and oldest Hive communities: Leo Finance
  • 🤩 Threads will interconnect to a much larger frontend vision in the future
  • 🐝 Crypto rewards are concentrated in $LEO and $HIVE

 
Like all Hive dApps, you already have an account. You just need to sign in!

💸 Threads are NOT limited to Finance

Traditionally, Leo Finance has been focused on, well, finance. Crypto finance, in particular. Many people on Hive are just not interested in that stuff, and Threads understands and embraces that fully.

Which brings us to the Scholar & Scribe connection!

 

📣 Phase 1: join Threads and share your work!

Below are simple steps and some examples:

Step 1: Log in using Hive Keychain at https://alpha.leofinance.io/login
Step 2: Make a post, and be sure to use the #scholarandscribe hashtag in the post itself. Share a link to your stories/poems (or someone else's)
Step 3: You’re done! No step 3… I guess go explore Threads? 😁

The place to make a new thread is right at the top of the home screen. See below:

  • The Home page is for Threads. That “Publish” menu at the bottom is for long Hive posts
  • You use tags right in the post, instead of adding them in another place
  • The orange ‘Thread’ button is what you use to submit the thread

Just type into the box! You only have 240 characters to work with, including the link URL and any hashtags you want to use. So be brief.

The content you share does not have to be new either. Nor does it have to be your own. The Threads are upvoted and assessed as their own piece of fresh Hive content 🙂

 

🎁 Rewards

REWARD 1: The Leo Finance community had generously offered to delegate a large amount of LEO tokens to a curation account: @leo.scholar

This account will be curating (upvoting) threads that use the #scholarandscribe tag. This means you will earn some decent LEO rewards on your threads for participating. Others from the Leo community will also be dropping upvotes on good content, so don’t be shy about exploring Threads (post about whatever you find interesting, comment on others’ threads, etc.!)

👉 Note: Threads can only generate $LEO tokens and the usual Hive rewards.

REWARD 2: Anyone who participates in this effort will be entered into a raffle to win some more prizes! One entry per account, no alts please. The @leo.scholar account will comment on your thread to confirm entry.

  • 5x prizes of 100 SCHOLAR

If it doesn't create all that spam like dbuzz, it's definitely a clear upgrade. I've avoided using dbuzz ever since I realised it was just another HIVE blog entry.

Yup, this is the clear differentiator (right now) for me. I can pop off short little replies without worrying about how that looks on other frontends.

As for zapfic, well, you'll probably enjoy our Phase 2 campaign :D

I saw you dropped a message to me in Threads yesterday when I was exploring my Ginabot notices. I clicked on it and was faced with needing to comb through a few hundred comments to find it. When threads at least gets notifications on the app I may start to switch to look.

Ah, because you likely accessed the threads through a not-threads frontend.

Gotta use the threads frontend here: https://alpha.leofinance.io/

Keychain works for sign in. Notifications are there (but still in Alpha phase).

Not sure if other frontends will adapt to parse threads. Will be up to them independently :)

of course .. my ginabot takes me to peakd always.. I am not one for jumping around on frontends.

SO then I went to the app and thought Oh I'll find it there ... there wasn't any notifications AND a real deal breaker .. the text is way too small to read without straining.

Hopefully they will improve some of that but at this point it doesn't draw my attention much yet. I don't use dBuzz a lot either

It's just that the Threads backend is done in a different way *(to prevent people from "messing up" your blog) but you can view everything correctly through the old or the new Leofinance UI!

Welcome aboard! This is such a great way to gain exposure, expand the community, add some creativity to threads, and earn a little extra along the way. Seriously, thread anything you want. LeoFinance is no longer a "crypto/finance only" place. Obviously long-form blog posts remain that way, but threads is for everything, literally. The more users the better it is for the entire Hive ecosystem.

So, add your voice to the mix. Throw down a haiku, what you had for breakfast, or a picture of your cat. Link your own work or someone else's you find interesting. Doesn't matter. It's all good. Use the hashtag (#) #scholarandscribe and/or other appropriate hashtags so your threads can be found by others in the community if they don't see them live.

Hope to read some cool stories moving forwards.

This is amazing, I can't believe I missed this post, it sounds amazing! Will there be a phone app at some stage do you think?

Such a great thing to have, and I'm delighted to hear that posts on Threads won't appear in our main feed, which was one of the reasons I didn't use Dbuzz that often. I've been hearing about Threads for a while now, but thanks for putting all this info in one easy-to-read post!
