Five Alive ruleset in Splinterlands - Quora and her support

Hey readers, it is another week for Splinterlands. Maximalists on other chains have a saying I would like to alter here a bit: Each day that goes and Splinterlands still exists is a win! ;)
Honestly speaking I get the feeling that the team is a bit off the track.
There were again some unannounced last-minute changes (=nerfs) and there are signs.... Do you see this week's "battle mage secrets"-graphic showing the roman number for four while talking about five? :/

Worst of the recent developments is the need to keep your SPS and cards in sync. I guess for most of the players it means you have to stake / buy more SPS. In my case my cards support even a march to Diamond league. However if I enter this league (new change after stopping the league cap system: nothing stops me anymore!) my SPS stake is too small to support any meaningful rewards. A logic consequence would be for me to downgrade my deck (=sell cards) and upgrade my SPS stake. However if anyone would do this, prices of cards are doomed to fall even further. And I mean I have not sold any big chunks of SPS neither from wins nor from airdrop.

Hard cut: Ruleset of the week is "Five Alive" and the description is so small, I will not comment on this any further: "Up to five Units can be used."

Let us have a view at one my battles here:

I again went with my beloved Magic-Earth-Splinter lineup. And as the "Five Alive" ruleset of this week suggests I chose five units and could not have chosen more. Like my opponent did! ;)
I think my opponent wanted to make some use of Gladiator units.
For me it is always Quora! ;)

Due to some other ruleset in place my magic was weak and had to deal also with my opponent's units' shield stat. However I was in Round 2 the first to take a unit off the board.

Round 2 still saw me losing a unit, but only to give Quora more space... and start a good performance in Round 3!

Quora and support made their moves and in consequence in Round 4 the battle was already over. My opponent ceased fire and would not hurt my units, anymore.

My conclusion: Were 5 units really necessary? -I mean Quora managed to deal with a lot of my opponent's units.
However I think limiting the units a player can play to five is a nice variation of the initial ruleset! Still this variety is well-known from other games. And as Splinterlands is (for me) less static than other games which basically force predefined roles on each position it does not really feel like there is any difference with regards to actual gameplay.
