Equal Opportunity ruleset in Splinterlands - room for strategy!

So I think there goes another week without any big news coming from Splinterlands. The only relevant news I remember is that they consider changing the burn option of Gladiator edition cards from "burn for DEC" to "burn for SPS". From my perspective I find this to be consistent with their initiatives of strengthening DEC, but on the other hand and from a more formal approach you have to consider (=deduct) the whole potential Gladiator card supply's burnvalue for the maximum number of mintable SPS. As there is currently no limit to minting Gladiator cards (as far as I know), you are creating just another source for hyperinflation of SPS.

The ruleset of the week is called: "Equal Opportunity" and it basically is another of the rulesets where all units get to add a specific ability which is "Opportunity". More in detail the rules read:
"All units gain the opportunity ability which allows them to attack the unit with the lowest health on the enemy team."

Again let us have a look at one of my battles with "Equal Opportunity! ruleset:

The lineups: My opponent chose some strong units I really much appreciate in Water Splinter, but I had another idea. First I wanted to bait my opponent's attacks on my Rat with the "Martyr" ability. Then I wanted to make even more use of the "Equal Opportunity" ruleset by allowing my Coastal Sentry unit from behind Noa the Just. Let's see if all that tactic would prevail, compared to simple strength on the other side of the battlefield. ;)

So the first part of my plan was realized. "Equal Opprtunity" ruleset guided my opponent's attacks toward my rat with "Martyr" ability. So my expendable unit would leave the board, but only to strengthen both of my units with dual attacks. Thus I took double the advantage of the "Martyr" ability, too.

So the end of Round 1 already saw my opponent's Runemancer leave the board. So far it looked like a successful tactic.

Then the match became a bit more undecided, again. My Noa was gone and I had to deal with my opponent's main tank including his "Tank heal" ability. And I could no longer focus all of my attacks at one point of my opponent's rear line. Furthermore my Axemaster with Ranged attack would be helpless if Coastal Sentry also left the board. :(

Lucky for me it never came that far. Axemaster took Djinn Oshannus off the board, too. Afterwards my opponent was left with a strong tank, but no attack left.

For the records: This is another victory for team jdike!

So yes, all my reasoning with Equal Opportunity ruleset prevailed!
You might see that I come to the conclusion that "Equal Opportunity" ruleset leaves plenty of room for thinking up strategies. My opponent had strong (and developed) units and a summoner two levels above mine. Still I won!
