Life Update: “A Birthday Surprise for Mother”

Hello everyone. It was early in the morning when we went to the Gcash exchanger which is the neighbor store. The money is budgeted for my mother’s birthday surprise. When we took it, we went to the cake store. It’s our favorite cake shop because they have the best prices and best tastes. Their cakes are extremely tasty because those aren’t that sweet. We cannot notice of a flour while we savor it in our mouth. They not just sell cakes, they also have loaf breads, muffins, macaroons, hopia, pies, bread, cupcakes and cheese cakes. Their monay loaf bread tastes so good.

They have many displayed cakes to choose such as Pastel Bloom cake, Black Forest, Luscious Chocolate Cake, Mango Cake, Ube Cake, Mocha and Chocolate Cake, Caramel Cake, Coffee Cake, Cassava Pie and Royal Fudge. My most favorite from them is their Royal Fudge. It is topped with a lot of chocolate bars plus the icecream taste of the chocolate and mocha icing. It costs 20$.

We bought the Coffee Layered Crunch for 16$ and the Royal Fudge for 20$. We were curious how crunchy it is. The layer is pretty simple, but the topping looks tempting which we can imagine the sweet treats but crunchy. Since we bought two cakes, we were given two freebies that are chocolate and muffin sandwiches. Both cost 1$ if we bought it, but it was given for free.

After we bought the cakes, we went to the hotel to check-in. First, we asked the front desk about the prices of their corkage. We planned to order foods from them, but we didn’t expect my mother to order foods from a food catering service for 70$. The package for 70$ has three desserts and five viands. Hotel’s corkage costs 7$ per menu. If we bring the foods beside the pool, we should pay 70$ for corkage. But we can lessen the price if we bring the other foods inside the room. We checked-in three rooms. Each room costs 50$ per night. We can bring the foods there, but we’re away from the pool. So what we did, we divided the foods to pay less. The staff also included the beverage in a corkage, and for us, it was too much. Luckily, they gave us the discount and the payment for beverages is not included. In the end, we paid 35$ for the corkage.

So, we finally checked-in, but mother was still at home. We surveyed each room first in which room with tables, fridge and seats. It was my mother’s room that is spacious with those three important things so that we could put there the other foods. Outside the room is the kitchen area with the swimming pool. We chose the wrong room which were at the second floor.

Kids loved their room. They can’t wait to stay there for relaxation. While they were inside, they can peek at the pool. They can breathe the fresh air from their garden. The room has wide flatscreen t.v, toiletries, telephone, free WiFi access, small fridge (but not all), two bottles of water (as we paid rooms good for two) and aircon.

There are only two people from each room who can swim at the pool. We rented three rooms good for two. Yet, we were seven, plus, our neighbors came in. There were five kids that we prioritized to access the pool, plus, my mother who had a birthday. We adults were just looking at them swimming.

My little one is not included of the counting of the kids because she’s still one year old. She greatly enjoyed the water while being carried by my mom. She didn’t like to stop. When I took her out from the pool, she was really upset and she cried a lot. Well, I needed to get her since the nightfall is coming and the water gets cold.

While my mother was at home, she didn’t have an idea where to go. She thought she’d be swimming at an ugly beach of Masao in Butuan, so she brought toiletries, blankets and towels. She didn’t know we would be staying in a hotel. While she waited for us, I chose to stay at the hotel to arrange our things. I also managed all the expenses for the rooms and corkage. I asked the staff to place our table just beside the pool. Balloons and cakes are already placed. I was disappointed a little bit of the balloon color. It was blue instead of pink or red which are womanly color. We bought it at the mall and they’re out of stock of pink and red. We didn’t have time to go to another store as it was already 2pm.

My mother was shocked why she was at the hotel’s lobby. I supposed to take pictures, but I was lowbat. Well, this is the hotel’s lobby. We can relax here while looking at the outdoor view. We can overlook at the pool, the garden and the highway. Their lobby design looks classic a little bit and minimalist. This hotel is one of the oldest hotels and restaurants of Butuan.

From 7-10 am, they offer a free breakfast, but for us who paid a good-for-two rooms, only two people from each room can dine in. But it’s okay because we brought a lot of foods. The remaining adults just stayed at the room. In the kitchen, they serve an unlimited meal in a buffet. They have scrumbled eggs, longganisa, Kare-Kare, fruits, coffee, juice and water.

Their scrumbled egg tastes so good and the soft meat beef of Kare-Kare. Because it tastes so good, I again filled in my plate rice, egg and Kate-Kare as it is unlimited. When I was done, I wanted to fill my plate again but my tummy couldn’t accept more food. LoL

People seemed to love their breakfast. It feels so good to eat breakfast just beside the pool while we can glance at the garden. Kids enjoyed their colorful juices. My mom was happy that she ate her meal with coffee. However, their buffet isn’t that grandiose if I would compare it to the other hotel here. Anyway, it’s okay as long as their foods are tasty that my family used to enjoy especially my mother who is the celebrant. How about you, what did you do this weekend?
