Saturday Savers Club Progress week 8 - a slow week with a 33 HP gain

avatar

Its week 8 (24/02/24) of my savings focus for 2024 with the Saturday Savers Club which is a great Hive community initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account.

My goals for this year are:

  • Primary goal - to increase my HP by 7500, to 18500 HP,
  • Secondary goal - to increase my HP delegation to @eds-vote by 1000 HP, to 3000 HP (because I want to accumulate more of the EDS token).

I will also be continuing to increase my holding of investment tokens, and delegating HP to a number of good community curation accounts as well.

This weeks pic - My wife and I went on an interesting walk this past week through an old dis-used railway tunnel in the city that has now been converted into a pedestrian route. It has graffiti the whole way through, in allocated sections. The art work was quite impressive, and it was great to walk through the tunnel and see it all.

Weekly Stats

Weekly commentary

  • HP Gain: I gained +33 HP this week, which is a reflection of my lack of activity. I've been quite busy with work and life which has been impacting my hive time, and that is reflecting in my growth.
  • HP Passive: 16.15 of my HP gain this week came from curation (+9.54 HP, not really passive - which is a down a little) and HP APR (+6.61 HP - based on the current HP APR of 2.93%). This is quite important because it has brought in half of my HP income this week. Its good to see that its making a difference especially when I've not been as active,
  • HP goal: My HP total now stands at 11730 HP and I need a further 6770 HP to hit my primary goal of 18500 HP. At 445 weeks to go, that requires 152 per week (an increase of 3 HP), which is pretty steep and will be quite a challenge, especially if I keep having weeks where I have low activity,
  • HP delegation to @eds-vote: My HP delegation to @eds-vote increased by +12HP to 2097 HP. I need to delegate another 903 to hit my secondary target to raise my total delegation to 3000 HP. That will require an average of 20 HP delegated per week to hit it, which I should achieve,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: I delegated another +11HP to @curangel to bring that total to 184. The aim to to take that to 250 HP - only 66 to go now !,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: The main aim of these community delegations is to support these great curation accounts that have helped me along the way to where I am now, but I'm also getting nice daily drips of HIVE as a result from @ocdb, @qurator and @curangel as they pass on their curation income to delegators, which is a nice little bonus !
I tend to reinvest those HIVE drips from the curation accounts back into my HBD:HIVE trading fund, giving a nice little synergy to growing another income stream,
  • EDS: I gained +4.75 EDS. My 2097 HP delegation to @eds-vote brought in 3.71 EDS this week. It wasnt working these last few weeks due to all the node issues, so that was it catching up - hence why its higher than normal. The rest of the gain seen came from the mining lottery for holding EDSMMs (I have 146 of those) and the weekly drip from holding 7 EDSD (which was 0.04 EDS this week). I selected increasing my delegation to @eds-vote as my secondary goal as I'm really keen to keep accumulating EDS, and focusing on the HP delegation works well with my primary goal of increasing my HP total,
  • EDSD: I didnt add any EDSD this week because I had very little income to play with. Also, I'll wait for the price of HIVE to go back above $0.35 before I start buying EDSD again,
  • DAB: I gained +1.919 DAB this week, taking my total to 62.578 DAB.
  • DBOND: I had no DBOND growth this week as that was also affeted by the node problems. I'm confident that it will catch-up soon when the issues are resolved,
  • DRIP: I gained +2 DRIP this week, taking my total to 111, which is a result of the daily passive gains over the week from staking the DRIP I already have. DRIP provides me with a quite important daily supply of swap.hive. Its not huge, but it adds up and helps me with other small misc purchases I like to make, including adding liquidity into various pools (I added some to the SWAP.HIVE:PWR pool this week),
  • HBD:HIVE Trading: There was some nice volatility in the price of HIVE this week, with it ranging from $0.3348 to $0.3736. This was good for me noting that my lowest trading range is $0.33. As a result I had 13 trades go through. They were fairly small, but provided an overall gain of just over 4 HIVE. I'm happy with that, and it means those trading pots are that bit bigger and as a result will gain a little bit more with each trade.

Plan for the coming week

  • Regular Posting: To continue to make sure I post daily/regularly to ensure daily HBD and HIVE author rewards (although I havent been managing so well on this front since the start of the year, so I need to get back into the rhythm).
  • **Posting via Inleo: ** I've been actively using Inleo more for posting which should help give a boost to my LEO income, especially with the Leo-ADs initiative now kicking in. I'm also considering trying premium at some point, but will wait until I'm more active again as I dont want to waste it,
  • Curation: To be active in HIVE Blog curation to help with HIVE curation rewards. My curation is mostly manual and I mostly try to keep my voting mana between 80 to 90%,
  • Undelegated HP: To continue to increase undelegated HP in order to improve HIVE curation rewards,
  • HBD:HIVE trading: To continue with HBD:HIVE trading (as long as the price is above $0.33). I'll continue to add additional funds (in small amounts) to my trading capital each week, in the active trading range, when I'm trading, which will help grow the gains over the long term (albeit slowly). I do this by adding any HIVE/HBD drips I get landing in my Hive Wallet from things like curation. When a trade goes through, I then just add any amount left in the wallet from those drips into the next flip trade when I set it up - this method has been working nicely to help slowly grow my trading fund in the active trading range, which is great,
  • HP delegation to @eds-vote: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to @eds-vote will add a further 3 HP (it all counts !),
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to community curation accounts will add a further 3 HP to my @curangel delegation.
  • EDSD: My aim has been to buy 1-2 EDSD per week to help build up my pot of those, and in turn my EDS stack, however I'll pause buying for the moment while the price of HIVE is so low until it recovers to around $0.35, and also until I'm more active and have more funds to play with.

Summary

In summary, it was a poor week due to my lack of activity, so there is only myself to blame. However, the passive streams keep on doing there thing, so its great to see that gains can still be made even when I dont have the time to do much.

My Tribe Token Investment Project

My experiment with 8 different tribe tokens on my alt account @hoosieboy is moving along nicely. The experiment is designed to grow semi-passively via staking, curation, posting and rebalancing - in a way where the methods should work together and add constructively. Everything gets re-invested back into curation accounts for the same 8 tribe tokens, so it also provides a positive boost to those tribes.

I undertook my last rebalance 7 days ago, and hence I'm due another one soon. I'm still finding it really interesting, even though the amounts are quite low at the moment. However, the token numbers continue to grow which is the main thing. A couple of bigger post payouts would help to kick start it that bit better, but we'll have to see what happens. In general its great to see the various methods of curation, posting, staking and rebalancing all working in tandem. You can check out my latest rebalance post on my @hoosieboy alt account here.

And as a reminder:

  • Its Hive Power Up Day (HPUD) next Friday (1st of March),
  • This weeks Savers of the Week post went live on friday (here). The awards for those selected are quite nice now ! We are looking for inciteful content that shows how you are saving, growing and investing. Each of the 4 nominees gets 15% of the notification post payout and 4 HSBIs - so it can work out as a nice little boost to all selected ! So make sure you are creating your weekly savings posts, and tagging them in the comments of the weekly post from susie-saver on the @eddie-earner account - you've got a very good chance of getting selected !

It's great to know that your wallet is working for you, even when you're not working on your wallet.

"In summary, it was a poor week due to my lack of activity,...."

Well, if that was a poor Week, then I'm extremely excited to see what a good week is for you. And even worse, an extremely good week.

It's really remarkable how everything is going, you've set up your wallet extremely well!
Very inspiring.

Thank you for such motivational boosts, I think everyone can only enjoy such results and work towards them themselves!
