Saturday Savers Club Progress week 24 - a change in HIVE:HBD trading tactics

avatar

Its week 24 (16/06/24) of my savings focus for 2024 with the Saturday Savers Club which is a great Hive community initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account.

My goals for this year are:

  • Primary goal - to increase my HP by 7500, to 18500 HP,
  • Secondary goal - to increase my HP delegation to @eds-vote by 1000 HP, to 3000 HP (because I want to accumulate more of the EDS token).

I will also be continuing to increase my holding of investment tokens, and delegating HP to a number of good community curation accounts as well.

This weeks pic -My wife and I went for a nice walk in the local park last night. It was quite a lovely day, and we got a nice view over the city with the pond reflecting the trees quite nicely. If you look closely at the dark patch in the pond in the bottom right you can see a white blob which is one of the local swans. They normally rear a set of cygnets here each year. We havent seen any cygnets so far this year, so I'm hoping that its just the fact that they havent hatched yet.

Weekly Investment Focus

  • I released a lot of HIVE from my HBD:HIVE trading fund this week (as you'll see below). I had a number of trading pots sitting waiting for prices in the $0.46 to $0.47 range, which I dont think we are going to see for a long time, so I canceled those sell orders, and powered up the HP. I might as well put it to work to earn curation and APR. I also used any HBD post payouts this week to extend my low end trading pots in order to try and help chase this new low HIVE price we are seeing. Hopefully that will keep me trading, however, I am a little shocked at how low the price has gone of late,
  • I've continued to focus heavily on play-2-earn games this last week - particularly Alien Worlds, which I play via WAX wallet (its not a HIVE game). Its going pretty well, having joined some relevant discord groups, so am getting the advice I need to get going. Its still slow burn at the moment, but I can see it getting more profitable easily,
  • It was LPUD yesterday, and I was happy to power up 151 LEO !

Weekly Stats

Weekly commentary

  • HP Gain: I gained +868 HP this week. A lot of this was related to releasing funds from my HBD:HIVE trading fund, however I did also have quite a few nice post payouts this week, so am more than happy with this result !,
  • HP Passive: 21.21 of my HP gain this week came from curation (+13.09 HP, not really passive) and HP APR (+8.12 HP - based on the current HP APR of 3.09%) - I'm sure thats my highest to date and the first time I've broken 21 HP in a week, which is great, and the large power-up I made this week should help again for next week. Its making a nice difference each week !,
  • HP goal: My HP total now stands at 13673 HP and I need a further 4827 HP to hit my primary goal of 18500 HP. At 28 weeks to go, that requires 170 per week (a decrease of 23 thanks to this weeks large power up). The weekly target is certainly looking rather difficult to hit, but I'll keep aiming for it,
  • HP delegation to @eds-vote: My HP delegation to @eds-vote increased by +6 HP to 2506 HP. I need to delegate another 494 to hit my secondary target to raise my total delegation to 3000 HP. That will require an average of 17 HP delegated per week to hit it, which I should achieve (even if it means dumping more than planned in to hit the goal),
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: I delegated another +5HP to @qurator to bring that total to 145. The aim is to take that to 250 HP - so I have 105 to go - so its getting there,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: The main aim of these community delegations is to support these great curation accounts that have certainly helped me along the way to where I am now, but I'm also getting nice daily drips of HIVE as a result from @ocdb, @qurator and @curangel as they pass on their curation income to delegators, which is a nice little bonus !
I tend to reinvest those HIVE drips from the curation accounts back into my HBD:HIVE trading fund, giving a nice little synergy to growing another income stream,
  • LEO (which includes LP): I gained 54 LEO this week, which is quite a bit higher than my 12 week rolling weekly average of 35. The high post payouts from this week must have made the difference. 54 LEO in a week is quite a nice income and comes from my Inelo posting and curation activity, my HP delegation to @leo-voter and also my LP delegation to @india-leo,
  • HP delegation to @leo-voter: I added 1 HP (!) to my delegation to @leo-voter this week (actually it was due to HP APR growth). I do intend to add to it further later in the year (after my curation account and @eds-vote delegation targets have been completed) but am monitoring it anyway because its an important part of my LEO growth strategy,
  • EDS: I gained +2.61 EDS which is slightly better than my 12 week rolling average. My 2506 HP delegation to @eds-vote brought in 2.07 EDS this week. The rest of the gain seen came from the mining lottery for holding EDSMMs (I have 146 of those). I selected increasing my delegation to @eds-vote as my secondary goal as I'm really keen to keep accumulating EDS, and focusing on the HP delegation works well with my primary goal of increasing my HP total,
  • HBD:HIVE Trading: I didnt have any trades go through again this week due to the price of HIVE falling through the floor, and outside of my active trading range. However, as said above, I have created a number of new trading pots that extend my lower trading range, so hopefully that will help. Its really hard to tell whats going on with the price at the moment. We seem to be in uncharted territory, so its a case of waiting to see how it goes. I'd hate to see it falling below $0.01 - heres hoping that does not happen.

Plan for the coming week

  • Regular Posting: Regular posting (daily) is the key to HP growth. I've been a better better at this these last 2 weeks, so need to try and keep that going,
  • **Posting via Inleo: ** I'm continuing to post mostly using Inleo due to the extra LEO this will generate. Its making a difference, as is having Premium,
  • Curation: To be active in HIVE Blog curation to help with HIVE curation rewards. I mostly try to keep my voting mana between 85 to 95%,
  • Undelegated HP: To continue to increase undelegated HP in order to improve HIVE curation rewards,
  • HBD:HIVE trading: To continue with HBD:HIVE trading. I'm going to keep adding more funds to the low end of my trading capital from post payouts over the coming weeks. HBD:HIVE trading has been working well for me, so I may as well take advantage of that and try to increase the profits on my trades - increasing my trading capital will help to make that happen,
  • HP delegation to @eds-vote: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to @eds-vote will add a further 87 HP,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to community curation accounts will add a further 87 HP to my @curangel delegation to complete it, and then 87HP to my @qurator delegation.

Summary

I think it was a good move to power up those funds from the high end of my trading fund - it makes sense to have them earning something as opposed to waiting for the price to recover (which could take a long time) . It was also very nice to get some great post payouts, and I'm also really enjoying playing Alien Worlds. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can make Alien Worlds more profitable in order to the start building up my staked WAX on the WAX block chain.

My Tribe Token Investment Project

My experiment with 8 different tribe tokens on my alt account @hoosieboy is moving along. The experiment is designed to grow semi-passively via staking, curation, posting and rebalancing - in a way where the methods should work together and add constructively. Everything gets re-invested back into curation accounts for the same 8 tribe tokens, so it also provides a positive boost to those tribes.

My last rebalance was 2 weeks ago which racked up another small gain due to some nice increases in the price of PIMP and CENT in particular. There has been quite a bit of turbulence in the layer-2 markets, hence is been a bit up and down of late. I'm still really enjoying the experiment because each rebalance is different due to all of the methods at play. Getting an insight to those is proving to be really interesting (to me anyway). At 2 weeks, I'm due another rebalance, so I'll have to get that done.

You can check out my latest rebalance post on my @hoosieboy alt account here.

And as a reminder:

  • This weeks Savers of the Week post went live on friday (here). The awards for those selected are quite nice ! We are looking for inciteful content that shows how you are saving, growing and investing. Each of the 4 nominees gets 15% of the notification post payout and 5 HSBIs - so it can work out as a nice little boost to all selected ! So make sure you are creating your weekly savings posts, and tagging them in the comments of the weekly post from susie-saver on the @eddie-earner account - you've got a very good chance of getting selected !

Great overview and progress, you seem to be growing faster which is great. Hopefully the Hive price will go up once Bitcoin moves higher again. It seems we skipped the alt season so far.

Yes, its certainly been odd of late for the HIVE price. Here's hoping it picks up !

it seems we are on the same page, that HIVE broke the support level and it's kind of reckless to buy hive right now.

Congratulations on the progress in being made here. I agree that powering up funds instead of waiting for the market to recover is a smart move. Enjoy your walks in the park with your wife dear friend
