Saturday Savers Club Progress week 16 - where is the price of BTC and HIVE going ?

avatar

Its week 16 (20/04/24) of my savings focus for 2024 with the Saturday Savers Club which is a great Hive community initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account.

My goals for this year are:

  • Primary goal - to increase my HP by 7500, to 18500 HP,
  • Secondary goal - to increase my HP delegation to @eds-vote by 1000 HP, to 3000 HP (because I want to accumulate more of the EDS token).

I will also be continuing to increase my holding of investment tokens, and delegating HP to a number of good community curation accounts as well.

This weeks pic - I went out for a walk to the seafront during the week and caught the sunset and reflections in the incoming tide just right to get some pretty awesome pics of some pillars in the sea. I did a full post of those pics earlier in the week here.

Weekly Investment Focus

  • My main activity this week was posting. I managed 6 posts this past week, which is a little better for me. I've been trying to make sure I get value out of my Inleo Premium purchase and I can confirm it has definitely been worth it and I have so far made more than the purchase cost back in upvotes alone from @leo.voter, and as such I will be planning to continue to use Premium going forward,
  • I have a small amount of spare swap.hive this week. Of late I have been dumping it into the PWR:Swap.HIVE pool, although I did see a post about the value of LGN being quite low and probably a good buy. So this week I'm a little torn between the PWR:Swap.HIVE pool and LGN as a wee purchase. I'm also still really liking DRIP, although havent bought any in a while - so thats also a potential target. Decisions Decisions,
  • Its been a bit of a wild ride on the BTC price front this last week (and hence also HIVE). I'm wondering what will happen with the halving this weekend. History shows it sort of peaks up to the halving and hangs there for a little while, and then drops back. However, I have no real clue as to what will happen. My total guess is that BTC wont hang around at the highs for long, although its hard to tell now that institutional investors are onboard via the ETFs. If they think it looks cheap, they'll pour in the money, so it could stay at a decent price rather than plummeting. Lets see what happens - who really knows.

Weekly Stats

Weekly commentary

  • HP Gain: I gained +74 HP this week which I cant complain about at all. I'm continuing to put any HBD post payouts back into my HBD:HIVE trading fund, so my weekly HP gains are down a little while I continue to do that, so 74 HP is pretty good !,
  • HP Passive: 17.87 of my HP gain this week came from curation (+10.91 HP, not really passive) and HP APR (+6.96 HP - based on the current HP APR of 2.83%) - 17.87 is my second highest to date - I'm pretty happy with the gradual upward trend in this,
  • HP goal: My HP total now stands at 12230 HP and I need a further 6270 HP to hit my primary goal of 18500 HP. At 36 weeks to go, that requires 167 per week (an increase of 3 HP). The weekly target is getting a bit silly now - although its not taking account of my weekly HBD:HIVE trading activity which has gone fairly well these last months, so that could help towards the end of the year if I release HIVE from my trading fund,
  • HP delegation to @eds-vote: My HP delegation to @eds-vote increased by +7 HP to 2149 HP. I need to delegate another 851 to hit my secondary target to raise my total delegation to 3000 HP. That will require an average of 23 HP delegated per week to hit it, which I should achieve,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: I delegated another +6HP to @curangel to bring that total to 229. The aim to to take that to 250 HP - only 21 to go now - nearly there now !,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: The main aim of these community delegations is to support these great curation accounts that have helped me along the way to where I am now, but I'm also getting nice daily drips of HIVE as a result from @ocdb, @qurator and @curangel as they pass on their curation income to delegators, which is a nice little bonus !
I tend to reinvest those HIVE drips from the curation accounts back into my HBD:HIVE trading fund, giving a nice little synergy to growing another income stream,
  • EDS: I gained +1.7 EDS (which is a little lower than normal). My 2149 HP delegation to @eds-vote brought in 0.94 EDS this week (quite a bit down). The rest of the gain seen came from the mining lottery for holding EDSMMs (I have 146 of those) and the weekly drip from holding 7 EDSD (which was 0.04 EDS this week). I selected increasing my delegation to @eds-vote as my secondary goal as I'm really keen to keep accumulating EDS, and focusing on the HP delegation works well with my primary goal of increasing my HP total,
  • HBD:HIVE Trading: I had an ok week at best. The HIVE price dropped quite a bit to an area where I dont have good coverage on my trading pots ($0.30 to $0.34), however, I've been adding a little more in that trading range to help, because the price has been in that range a number of times over the last 6 months so I might as well try to take advantage of it. I had 9 trades go through in total this week (which was a few more than expected) for a modest gain of around 7 HIVE. It all counts.

Plan for the coming week

  • Regular Posting: Regular posting (daily) is the key to HP growth. I've done better on this front these last few weeks (having Inleo Premium has given me the incentive I needed), so I'll continue to do what I can,
  • **Posting via Inleo: ** I'm continuing to post mostly using Inleo due to the extra LEO this will generate. Its making a difference, I can see that, and now that I have Premium, I'm hoping it gives a further little boost (which it appears to be doing),
  • Curation: To be active in HIVE Blog curation to help with HIVE curation rewards. My curation is mostly manual and I mostly try to keep my voting mana between 80 to 90%,
  • Undelegated HP: To continue to increase undelegated HP in order to improve HIVE curation rewards,
  • HBD:HIVE trading: To continue with HBD:HIVE trading. I'm going to keep adding more funds to my trading capital from post payouts over the coming weeks. HBD:HIVE trading has been working well for me, so I may as well take advantage of that and try to increase the profits on my trades - increasing my trading capital will help to make that happen,
  • HP delegation to @eds-vote: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to @eds-vote will add a further 7 HP,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to community curation accounts will add a further 7 HP to my @curangel delegation.

Summary

It was a good week - 74 HP from posting/passive is pretty good for me of late, even if HBD:HIVE trading was down. I had some good post upvotes through the week which will give a nice boost to next weeks numbers, so on the whole I cant complain. And lets see what happens with the price of BTC and HIVE after the halving !

My Tribe Token Investment Project

My experiment with 8 different tribe tokens on my alt account @hoosieboy is moving along nicely. The experiment is designed to grow semi-passively via staking, curation, posting and rebalancing - in a way where the methods should work together and add constructively. Everything gets re-invested back into curation accounts for the same 8 tribe tokens, so it also provides a positive boost to those tribes.

I'm due another rebalance. The last one was a little bumpy due to the dump in the price of a number of layer-2 tokens. We'll have to see how it goes over the coming weeks.

You can check out my latest rebalance post on my @hoosieboy alt account here.

And as a reminder:

  • This weeks Savers of the Week post went live on friday (here). The awards for those selected are quite nice ! We are looking for inciteful content that shows how you are saving, growing and investing. Each of the 4 nominees gets 15% of the notification post payout and 5 HSBIs - so it can work out as a nice little boost to all selected ! So make sure you are creating your weekly savings posts, and tagging them in the comments of the weekly post from susie-saver on the @eddie-earner account - you've got a very good chance of getting selected !
