Please use the HBIT command alone to mine Hivebits

avatar

Please use only one ! HBIT command in your comment. If other "!" commands are included, the HBIT will get skipped over.

Why?

  1. The point of HBIT is to reward a person's real, purposeful, intentional effort. Some users have been repeatedly copy/pasting many "!" commands in their "comment".
  2. Some users have been farming "tip tokens" by using multiple "!" commands. In short, they're pushing the limits of what's okay and what's abusing the system.

BEER has already employed this policy. LUV will very soon follow suit on this.

I realize that not everyone who uses multiple commands is abusing things. I've done it myself (@crrdlx).

The hope here is to (1) emphasize the giving as something special, and (2) cut down on token farming.

Hi! One thing, the command doesn't work in response to the @hivebits (token source) account. Try any other account to reply to, like the official HBIT mine @hivebits.mine, or this comment, or your own comment/post. !LUV

Dear @hivebits, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.
https://peakd.com/me/proposals/199

Your support would be really helpful and you could make a difference.
Thank you!

I thought it was !Hivebits Is that the same as HBIT?

Originally, it was ! hivebits (no space). Then I added ! HBIT or ! hbit or $ HBIT (no space in any of them). They all work and do the same thing, just different preferences.

Thanks. I appreciate the clarification. At least when people are doing multiple paste it shows that the second layer token is recognized as valuable. Unfortunately, it also demonstrates that the recognition of value is monetary instead of appreciative.

Whoops, the command won't work in response to this account (the source @hivebits account). It should work with any other, like the official HBIT mine @hivebits.mine, or to this comment, or to any other, or to your own. 👍

I really like this intention and the idea behind it!

It is a good choice in my opinion! 😇

Can you give an example of what you mean?
Is it removing the exclamation point from the command? How will this affect giving hivebits with love or another engagement token at the same time? 🤔🤔🤔

What nonsense! We can only use the command ONCE per day anyway, so abuse is impossible! And it was designed to be farmed for oneself. Later, a tenth was given to the person who's post it was called on, so... what are you talking about when you say it was for giving with purpose as something special?

Hive is already slow as molasses. To have to wait while each independent post goes up is just plain torture.

Hi there @happyme, a couple of things:

  • I agree that HBIT abuse isn't possible with the one per day rule.
  • You can easily avoid the tenth to the other person by replying to own of your own comments. Some people (me included) have made their own "my HBIT mine" post and reply to it each day or whenever.
  • As to the speed issue, using the HBIT command over and over won't go through, but it does force the bot to cycle through things which is wasteful.
  • As to the "something special" comment, I meant that more for LUV than HBIT. I could have phrased that better here.
  • The image shows the kind of thing trying to be avoided.

I appreciate your thoughts and I'd say hang in there, I'm still thinking.

Thank-you for the response.
In the image, you showed someone using multiple commands.
Each command is for a different token. That means the poster has bought/staked/saved for each of those tokens in order to use the commands. What is wrong with that? Isn't the idea of a token for people to collect and USE them? Isn't that what the issuer wants? Do you expect that people should sell all but ONE token and use JUST THAT ONE?

Honestly, I really don't get this whole idea of having to post each command on its own. Instead of encouraging the use of these tokens, it discourages their use, and that seems counter-productive to me. That would be like telling everyone NOT to use HIVE and just stick with BTC.

These tokens need to be USED to be seen and adopted by others. Otherwise, why issue the token in the first place? AND even more important is the fact that these tokens can be altered after they have been issued! What kind of 'contract' do we have where the issuer can unilaterally change the contract at will? How can anyone have trust in a token that can be altered any time after it has been issued? That goes against all the principals of immutability and blockchains in general.

Sounding more like centrallized control to me will be honest plus I thought this was basically a way to mine.

Considering it can only be used once a day i don't understand the point unless it is about control.

Controlling the way people give and earn seems to be in the opposite direction no.

Whats wrong with tipping the people you engage with regularly in multiple tokens that helps the growth of everyone.😎

I !love this statement...

...it is great when everything works together and flows.

For some reason it reminds me of the flyfishing movie (I didn't read the book), "Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it."

I can't say i have seen the movie or read the book 🤣

@crrdlx but believe for things to work well that is how it needs to be.
Having so many projects grow on the platform from people working together, it seems to me we need to have them flow together instead of functioning as complete separate entities.

Obviously we need to see realistcally how that will work with so many wonderful ideas and minds coming together bound to be a bump or two 😉

The movie is kind of old now, but I enjoyed it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_River_Runs_Through_It_(film) I like fly fishing, I like the outdoors, I like history. I tried to read it once, but couldn't find a copy at the library. Maybe it's time to try again. 🙂

A small observation: the policy of restricting ! rewards based on the number of ! rewards in the post is not "centralized" control. This rule is based on the information that is in a given comment. The rule is not based on a centralized database.

Accounts sharing a blacklist is a form of centralized control.

Of course most of the tribes on HE use the same mechanism (scotbot) to distribute the rewards. So, it is actually impossible to avoid some centralized control.

Well it kind of is because it stops people being able to do this !ALIVE

Should they feel like, if you say people can only put one ! command a specific one at that, this is centralized control it looks like control at least.
I maybe wrong but it is how it looks to me, starts feeling less decentalized blockchain and more like centralized monitoring i get there has to be some rules this seems like communities trying to split away to me.😎

So, what you want is a central authority to come along and force hivebits to permit stacked rewards. I can see why such centralized control makes things easier.

I prefer decentralized systems where the different reward tokens are allowed to decide the characteristics of their rewards.

No i don't that is the opposite all i am saying is if you stop the bots being used with each other kind of sends a funny message to me.
I like the freedom to use as many per comment as i can without someone saying i have to now remember which ones work with which.
@yintercept
Just thought Hive was communities coming together not trying to separate.
!hivebits 😴 only once on it's own 🤣
