A Horse is a Horse

Friendship with Painkillers
You haven’t been able to find me online for the past few days. And I can tell you, it wasn’t because I was too busy. But it was all about an adventure full of weeds, sore muscles and friendship with painkillers. It all started last Thursday when I decided to clear the driveway of my house from weeds. I dived in with good courage, but unfortunately I apparently didn’t adopt the best attitude. And although I quickly realized that a bent-over position wasn’t very convenient, and then sat down on the ramp, apparently that wasn’t very convenient either. And I noticed that when I woke up on Friday morning.

It seemed like a terrible fight had taken place between my hip, left leg and the rest of my body. If you come to think of your body in the language of music, my shin, in particular, played a very unusual and unpleasant chord of pain. Seriously, getting out of bed was hell. Even drinking a simple cup of tea while sitting in my chair at the PC was impossible. I had to quickly level myself again so as not to pass out from the pain. Fortunately, painkillers brought some relief once my blurry vision cleared.

Keep on Walking
So for the past few days I’ve been dragging myself from painkiller to painkiller. Lying down was not an option, especially with three dogs insisting on being walked. Can you imagine, that Friday afternoon I even went shopping with my partner, but even though I didn’t have to drive, sitting next to him in the car was a real torture for my left leg. It probably has been comical to people around me, but it definitely didn’t feel that way to me.

Saturday seemed to be going a little better, but unfortunately that turned out to be a deception. When I had to do a small errand by car, I knew that things were not going any better than the day before. Driving was just such a hell, luckily I only had to go 5 km there and 5 km back. Sunday started bad again, and today, I hope it’s a little better. But who knows what tomorrow will bring? I have to wait. It’s like I’m a tourist in my own body, exploring which muscle decides to taunt me next. I long for a vacation in a paradise where all my muscles are relaxed and weeds are non-existent. Unfortunately that’s not in it for the time being either, so I suspect painkillers will be my best friends for now. They help to navigate through these bumpy days. I am grateful to them for their temporary comfort, but I look forward to the day when I can say hello and thank them for their services.

But a Horse is a Horse!
Fortunately, despite my bumpy adventure, I still had the energy to work on a painting project. I had a horse that I had to paint on commission and it’s great to have a creative outlet even in times of adversity. It makes my days a little more colorful, even if my muscles are a bit tangled.

Let’s hope I’m back to full strength soon and my muscles feel normal again. Until then, I’ll take it easy, say hello to the painkillers, and save my weed adventures for another day. Hopefully I will be back soon and let’s hope that the next blog post has a more cheerful subject. I try to keep smiling and see you next time!
