This award does not take into account your SCRIBE holdings. 🥁🎺🥁🎺🥁🎺 ...and thus, security holds off frantic fans from getting on stage, it is my honor and privilege to introduce one of our brightest and most diligent Scribes, waves dramatically, the super talented... 🥁🎺🥁🎺🥁🎺

👑 killerwot 👑

All quotes in this showcase are from killerwot's works.

@killerwot came to us late last year. His love for sci-fi and building intricate worlds was evident from his first post. A lover of music and a lover of people, as he approached, his spirit shone on us all... and on the newly birthed land of the Scholars, and dare I say it... Scribes. 😱

Little did we know what sort of Scribe he would become...

Scribe of the Year babyyyy 🙌

As Scribe of the Year, @killerwot will receive 10 HSBI, 275 Pizza, and 1000 Ecency points, as a token of gratitude from the Scholar and Scribe family for his continuous hard work and dedication.

At the end of last year, the timelines lined up perfectly for our budding Scribe. And what I mean is for the storyline of Scribe of the Year, because that's the only thing that matters here amirite? hundreds of heads nod @killerwot concluded last year by finishing a novel, and in true KWOT fashion, blogging about his process.

It is only fitting that he started his SOTY journey with a brand new story. Something... more grandiose... interplanetary. He started small, a self-contained story set in his vast and expanding universe - Sud-Suds Speeder

Wazzy was talking with the most beautiful woman he'd ever spoken to, she was a Doshan and her purple-tinted eyes were fixed solely on him. Her undivided attention filled him with the kind of love that he had only read about or seen in those old holo-vid recordings. He was concentrating so much on not spoiling the moment they were having by saying something stupid, that he ended up just staying silent. Her lips were glossy and as she moved to speak, an unyielding screech could only be heard - her face contorted and he tried desperately to shake off the horrific noise; the sound only got louder still as she opened her mouth and he begged her to stop.

@killerwot continued this spree of stand-alone short stories with First Day of Peace, A Den on Besk, Paid Protection, Family Man and Walking The Dead Zone. Just to name a few.

I put an accent on this because Killah's a megalomaniac. He thinks BIG! We talkin' universe-scaling big. I have not come across a person connected with their world more than Killah. The passion he has for it, and his craft, is unmistakable.

I am so happy that he chose Scholar and Scribe as the hub for his stories. 😊

I have had many conversations with @killerwot on the types of stories he enjoys, and what he wants his world to encompass. I can assure you all (as much as my word is worth nowadays) that he cares about the craft more than most. As he cares about honoring what has come before, and taking what he needs for himself. As authors, the ancient art of yoinking from better writers is a time-honored tradition. 💯

And what has come before? Sci-fi. Sci-fi and only Sci-fi. For there is no other genre of import. Amirite? The man knows what he likes and he dives straight away in his influences and swims with them until the water runs dry. Tried a swimming metaphor, cut me some slack. 😅

A hallmark of Scholar and Scribe is the marked improvement of our most dedicated members. @killerwot is the best example of this. His writing has gone through such a stark change since his first few stories. The structure, the pacing, the characterization. His world-building has always been top-notch, but the prose aspect of his craft has gone through significant improvements. Love to see it. 👌

Finally, let's check out something newer, what has ol' KWOT been up to? Ask no more! It's a novella. 👀

CLICK HERE TO READ SAID NOVELLA

Walking down the winding tunnel networks; encased in concrete and old steel. Dust fragments rained on them. M'Trada - after a few minutes down here - could feel the thick coating on his tongue. It tasted like chemicals and dirt. After a few minutes more of walking, he found himself spit for the first time.

Each chapter is split up between posts and kept up-to-date like the diligent Paddy he is. @killerwot is currently looking for an editor for this Novella, so if you have any experience in the field please reach out.

For the rest of us mere mortals, I encourage you to give this as-of-yet-unnamed novella a try. It showcases Killah's strengths and is a fun read to boot! 👢 I am so very excited to find out what is next in the vast expanse of KWOT's mind.

The body was heavy, but between the two of them, they managed to lift it with ease. As they had a grip on it, the barrier disengaged allowing for the rain - which was much heavier now - to land on them. With one slow heave, the body was hanging over the side and a final push saw it being dragged down by its own weight to the street below. Again, the barrier engaged and they were once more protected from the environment as a dance of light tapped across the the top of it.

Thank you for being a part of this community @killerwot! And here's to another year of fantastic writing! Join me in giving him a big round of applause! 👏👏👏

Thank you man, I'm shocked that I was considered for it. The Scholar and Scribe community and World Building community have been amazing places to hang out, and are definitely the main things that kept me on Hive, and at that, expanding the ideas for the world.

Wow, this is amazing man, I actually can't believe I could be chosen for Scribe of The Year! That's insane. I'm honestly honored to even be considered for it, it means so much to me.

Your rundown of my contributions to the community is amazing, and I can't believe you went back as far as Sud-Suds Speeder haha, that was the first stand-alone short story I wrote and has entered a pretty long list of work that has the potential of being an Anthology collection. I've been working through it all, to cherry-pick and edit stories that I think are particularly good, in the hopes of publishing them someday.

I've been doing all I can to expand on my knowledge of writing, and the amount of practice I've gotten this year, and since joining Hive in general has been amazing. I've had so many great conversations with people here, who have been able to help me along the way.

Killah! That's funny, the lead singer in my band literally sounds exactly like that, so I kept hearing his voice when reading that. He's a Londoner, or Cockney, as they like to be called.

If there was one correction to be made it would be -

like the diligent Brit he is.

Like the diligent Paddy he is. !LOLZ I'm from Ireland.

That's awesome man, I was shocked reading this, and am amazed that my random stories could get me here. There are so many great Scholars and Scribes in the community, and it is one of my favourite places to hang out here on Hive! You have such a great way with words, and really make every one of these spotlight posts amazing. They're always entertaining and insightful!

I can't believe I was chosen for this spotlight, I wasn't expecting it at all, but I'm honored to be chosen. There are so many great writers in this community, and on Hive in general, and I think in a way we've all been able to boost each other's understanding of writing where possible and that attitude is leading toward an explosion of very creative people. I can imagine a lot of novels and novellas will be produced by the artists of Hive in the future.

I'm always open to give pointers and enjoy talking about it as much as I enjoy writing it.

One thing I tend not to do is get bogged down in the details of the technology and stuff like that unless it's important. I prefer to get inside the heads of characters, who are dealing with a situation of some kind and set those scenarios on other worlds, or spaceships. I think that helps with realism, and I think people who aren't too into science fiction can appreciate the stories too.

There are daily prompts in the World Building Community which have been very helpful by inspiring many of the lesser details of each world, and sometimes answering one of their prompts, I think of scenarios that could be based around those details. Well worth checking out if you're interested in it.

Congratulations @killerwot 👏👏🎉🎉 for wearing the Scribe Of The Year Crown. Your creativity is a gift that flows from within and so this crown sits well on you.

The excerpts from Sud-Suds Speeder pulled me into the story, a very interesting one at that capable of gluing anyone to it's screen with your well crafted lines.

I also took a look at Walking The Dead Zone and I must say you really did a great job there.

I'm glad to know you, how good you are at writing and your love for music, looking forward to visiting your blog again. I do hope some day you'll get to check out my lyrics and songs when I release them.

Well done 👍 and congratulations on your new novel 🎉

I was shocked that Grocko went back to those old stories haha, I think I've come a long since then, but it's great to go back to some old work to see the improvement. I think in the last two years I've come a long way, and there is still so much to learn.

I'd love to hear some of your music and check out your songs. I think being on Hive is great to be able to share ideas with people. Each of us here can really help boost each other, and also, the more people who find success here and outside of Hive, the more people will be attracted to this amazing place, and in that regard, we all win.

Sure, you're right, going back to old works helps appreciate the improvement and steady growth. I concur you have really come a long way and you're doing great.

I thank God for Hive, here, one can share a number of skills, talents and ideas with people worldwide and it's rewarding. Yeah, as long as people are here to stay and add value, understanding that there is a process, then we all win.

About my songs, I have not released any yet or shared any lyrics, I'm looking forward to doing so here soon on Hive and I hope a lot of people will receive the message as well as enjoy the songs.

Thanks so much @killerwot, your response is a motivation.

Cheers 🥂
