In search of filthy: A terrifying moment

I can't forget that day in a hurry. I, Nkay and my mum were at home when it all happened. It was 1a.m in the morning, we were all fast asleep when we heard a terrific bang on the door, I jumped up, woke my mum someone is knocking just as I was still talking another bang, this time a harsh voice screamed out; open this door! Now my sleepy eyes became wide open. I was beginning to shiver for fear of who that was while mum was still trying to get up from the bed, my sister was holding me so tight, I could feel her hands shaking again, there goes another bang on the door mum angrily shouted "who is that?" It is soldiers, multiple voices responded. Mum opened the door, the light from their torchlight almost blinded me. Good evening madam, where is filthy? They asked, who is filthy? She replied. They just pushed wide the door and entered, in search of filthy with their guns ready to fire. It's just one room well spaced with little properties, no place to hide, so they went out and we followed them out. we still don't know who is filthy and what was going on.

All the neighbors were outside, most of them folded their hands, some stood akimbo while some were discussing, all their homes have been searched and ransacked, yet filthy was no where to be found. Standing close to a neighbor's room was a young guy who was in cuffs both legs and hands, his face has been bruised and now swollen. We stood, waiting for an explanation, after awhile there was a soldier dragging a young boy probably at the age of 19 or 20 out of a room, he pulled him, kicked him and hit him with a thick wood, where is the pistol? Asked the soldier, "there is no pistol" he replied. The soldiers whose name was "talk and do"(TAD) started to explain that these boys are cultists and they went for operation, they shot a man and bruised his head beyond recognition. We all screamed ahh! I know this guy he always looks calm and dressed responsible, could it be true? That he is a cultist... I can't help but flood my thoughts with questions waiting for answers, hmm... TAD brought out his phone and showed us the man that was shot and the faces of group of boys(cultist) that went for that operation, how they got this information I don't know🤷 So Rambo, another soldier asked the boy again where the pistol was he denied again, they angrily cuffed him same way as his friend, the beat him over and over until he bled, Rambo asked again where is the pistol? He still denied not having the pistol in the heat of everything his elder brother came rushing in and he was asked to talk to his brother so that they don't waste his life here, so he began to ask his brother where the pistol was, but he refused to speak, the soldiers all cocked their guns in readiness to fire oh my God! Is this a movie? Am I still dreaming? I was beginning to pee on myself, I could feel it dripping already, I repeatedly say in my heart, just tell them the truth before they kill you.

Just then he spoke in a shaky and cracky voice, I will show you? He was helped to get up, walked bending and staggering, just before he approached our room their was an old chicken cage right Infront of our room, he went there bent down and brought out a yellow and black nylon, then handed it over to TAD, TAD opened the nylon lo and behold there it was the pistol with 2bullets, we all screamed Jesus! I couldn't believe that a pistol has been in this compound right Infront of the house...🙄 Nobody knew but how were we suppose to know?

The soldiers apologized for disturbing our sleep though it was for our own good, they left with the culprits and we went back into our rooms. I could not sleep, sleep was far from my eyes, all I could think of was how to get money to rent another apartment because I can't live here any more.

In searching for an apartment one should investigate properly about how good the Environment is, how safe is the compound you are intending to live in, to avoid this kind of incidents and others alike. There is no perfect area but there are better ones.
